I'm craving down-time, and I'm struggling to stay upbeat this week. Little things get me down.
I try to let things go, but you know how you can dwell on those small things? That hamster wheel in my head just keeps on going and going. I make myself feel better by wearing yellow.- Blouse - Mexx, thrifted; first worn here in August
- Skirt (part of a suit) - Miss V by Valentino, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in June with pale pinks
- Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last worn here in July with chrysanthemums
- Leather jacket (below) - Danier Leather; last seen here in May
I needed a full-on yellow caftan to really lift me up, but these little pops of sunshine helped, especially the parts I can see (the shoes and the bangle).
One last wearing of this "olive" patterned top before it hibernates for the winter. Due to the cut of the collar, it doesn't layer under blazers or cardigans, so away it goes.
I'm always happy to wear my real Valentino - this skirt may not be an exciting colour, but it's VALENTINO, people. That fills me with glee.
Besides, a neutral is lovely with brights.
Real face.
Skirts with pockets for the win!
Putting on this yellow leather jacket (which I've had for 8 years) brightens my mood.
It's been warm and sunny (aside from chilly mornings) all week, and it's not really needed, but I'll take fake sunshine in addition to real sunshine any time!
The stuff:
Must wear all the yellow! All of it! I pack these shoes away for fall/winter too.
Yellow bling:
All getting stored away (not the rings).
- Belt - Liz Claiborne, vintage, thrifted
- Bangle - thrifted
- Bakelite earrings - vintage 60s, thrifted, vintage fair
- Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, 1970s, vintage expo
- Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
- Amber ring - c. 1996
I modeled them in my wear-around-the-house camo pants. L and Vizzini were very impressed.
These are by Sol Sana (I have this pair by them as well) and they were 50% off (last pair!) for $125.00 at Footloose Shoes.
They are black suede embroidered with silver lame (lah-MAY, darlings!) in a palm design. They're called the "Cathy."
Monster platforms for height. The back of the shoe comes up and cups my heel for extra security, and gives the illusion of an even higher heel. Love it!
But it's a net-height of only 2 inches - totally walkable, danceable and stand-around-able. They will be wonderful with my party dresses this winter!
You look fantastic and fresh- this all yellow things that you added to your outfit - Awesome
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Karolina! I really appreciate you visiting my blog and your nice comment. :)
DeleteI love it all! Even your real face.😊 Those splotches yellow do the trick for this very nifty outfit.
ReplyDeleteThey do! Yellow always feels good. Thanks so much, Rebecca!
DeleteIt that time of year Sheila - the days are getting shorter and many of us empath strong women really feel the change from summer to fall. I hope you get the recoup and alone time you need to replenish the soul.
ReplyDeleteThose new shoes are fabulous
xo
You're so right, Trisha. This is my recovery/battery-charging season for sure. Alone time, YES! I knew you'd love the shoes. :)
DeleteYou have the gift of combining the most lovely colours together!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet comment, thank you, Nancy!
DeleteYou're expressing exactly how I'm feeling, Sheila. I know that hamster wheel and little things getting me down so well. Must be the season, perhaps? I did have a day off today - Jos's birthday - and I so dread going back to work tomorrow, even if it's only just one day. Wearing colourful clothes is how I'm getting through the days. It really does help! Love the little pops of sunshine in your outfit. The olive print blouse is divine, and I'm feeling better already just looking at your yellow bling, shoes, and jacket! Of course you totally deserved spoiling yourself with those fabulous shoes! Just one more day and it's weekend, right! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, that darned wheel. I'm a bit of an obsessive, detailed-person, and it's hard to shut that wheel down! Glad you got a day off, Ann (and happy birthday to Jos!). I'm off Friday/Monday - weeeee! Thank you so much.
DeleteThanks for including your real face photo. This is what we look like I'm real life, and it's just as good as the smiley blogger face. Your new shoes Are screaming for a party. Looking forward to seeing how you style them. And... It's Thursday, almost time for a restorative weekend!
ReplyDeleteGotta keep it real, right, Mel-Bee? I smile a lot in my jobs, and sometimes I just don't have the energy for it. I am so excited about the shoes - must wear them soon! Today is my Friday - hurray!
DeleteI love the yellow touches - yellow makes me happy too! It's interesting how our outfits can boost our moods! I really like that we can do that! It's a shame things have been so crazy though, I hope you have a more relaxing weekend.
ReplyDeleteLoving the shoes you got as well!
Outfits are magic that way! Thanks so much, Mica. Happy weekend to you, my dear.
DeleteThose brilliant pops of yellow are enough to cheer anyone up!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Autumn but in vintage selling it's the busiest season of the year and I love being busy! xxx
They worked for me, Vix! Thanks! I like autumn - always have - but it's so hard to pick a favourite.
DeleteIf in doubt add some wonderful dollops of yellow I say! Hope you're feeling a bit brighter after a lovely weekend Sheila. And hey, I'm a sucker for that special designer label too!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Anna x
I so agree, Anna! Thank you - it's been a little bit busy, ha ha!
DeleteThe yellow accents really make this outfit. Sometimes we just have to do what we can to lift our spirits temporarily (like wearing a cheerful colour) until it passes. If I could wear shoes like those silver embroidered ones, I would grab those too.
ReplyDeleteYup, whatever works, right? Yellow is always a good choice for me. You'd be surprised - the shoes are really comfy!
DeleteI know that skirt, because I think it's amazing even though you are not too keen on the color. You know I have a Valentino heart.
ReplyDeleteI think the yellow totally kicks it up to Sheila notch.
I agree on the amazing skirt - I'm coming around to more neutrals in my wardrobe. I love the quality of it. Thank you!
