Double Flares: Floral and Coral

There are so few days left in my spring/summer season! How will I fit everything in?
I keep mashing together things that I want to wear, and hoping the outfits work. Surprisingly, they usually do.

  • Sweater - Judith & Charles, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) earlier this month with a pink flared skirt
  • Skirt - Maeve, thrifted; last worn here in April with stripes, floral and aqua
  • Booties - Minstrel, Fluevog; last seen here in December 2017 with a summery skirt
  • Jacket (below) - Dolce & Gabbana, thrifted; last worn here in August

One more wearing out of this marvelous skirt. I adore the sheer navy blue tulle, the bright orange embroidered flowers, and the built-in crinoline. So girly!
I hid the waistband with an orange belt - I have klassily taken in both sides with safety pins so that it fits right.

A simple wool sweater to show off the bright skirt.
No one ever compliments me on a neutral sweater! But the skirt had a lot of fans in the office today.

I actually loved how this jacket looked with the outfit.
But it was far too warm out (and inside too) to wear it, so it only got an airing on my walk to and from work. Both it and the skirt will be packed away, so say your farewells now.

The stuff:
I find these boots challenging to style. I usually flip the top to make a flare, and I like how it echoes the flared shape of the skirt. Double flare!

Coral bling:
We're calling the shoes coral, but I like how the oranges all tone with that pinky-red.

  • Belt - vintage, thrifted
  • Wood earrings - vintage, vintage expo
  • Dragon bangle - Lazy Susan's
  • Silver bangle - local
  • Fulvia Ring/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

  4. The skirt is divine and I love how you paired it with the denim jacket. They look perfect together. Great idea to flip the top of those boots! Still wearing my summer stuff as well, I'm planning most of my changeover in the first weekend of October! xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! I was really enamoured of the jacket with the look. I'll be doing my swapover on Sunday/blogging about it on Monday.

  5. Loving this outfit, including with the jacket. It speaks early fall to me because the skirt, boots and jewelry are like the changing leaves. Finished the wearing of my spring and summer dresses just yesterday. Had to chuckle, though, because with air conditioning and some rainy, cool days, only the skirt portion of some dresses was visible...sweaters covered the tops!

    1. Aw, thank you, Laurie! I love that - those oranges are so much like the tips on the maple leaves here now. Ha! I know, my summer things are happy being layered or worn with sweaters.

  6. Love the denim jacket as part of your outfit! The skirt and top work well together, but the addition of the jacket completes the outfit for me.

Daily high temperatures remain above 100F degrees here (metro Phoenix, Arizona), but morning lows have begun to drop below 80 degrees--rather nice! Essentially, spring planting season for gardeners. lol

    1. Thank you so much for visiting and commenting, Taja! Yes, it made it for me too, but it was just too hot to wear like that all day. Nice for you to get a bit cooler - enjoy!

  7. Thank goodness I managed to turn up in time to say adieu to this, most favourite, skirt of mine/yours (hint, hint). I adore this styling too with the orange belt and simple sweater allowing the skirt one last moment in the spotlight.

  8. I agree with the person who commented that the addition of the jacket makes the outfit. The skirt is marvelous - the colours and fullness make it so. I would love a pair of shoes like those!!

  9. Oh wow I cannot imagine what it must feel like to try to "fit" certain amount of clothing into a time frame because of the weather.
I absolutely love the colors and fabrics here. While I am not sure I would wear it with boots, this totally works.

    1. We have very defined seasons here, so it's tricky to know what to wear! I like this skirt with pointy shoes usually, but it's fun to shake it up.
