Almost Christmas, and Some Cat Pictures

I had a bizarre amount of comments about how my outfit today looked Christmassy.
Yes, and it's snowing on my skirt. Just call me Frosty.

  • Lace jacket - fake Gucci (Gookey!), thrifted; last seen here in August in a "two-fer" double outfit
  • Blouse - Dex, consignment; purchased here for $12.98
  • Skirt - Baraschi, consignment; last seen here (2nd outfit) in June with some bigass red shoulders
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last worn here in July with a slouchy cardi

Vizzini was lurking around this morning.
"You hold no interest for me, Woman."
I built the outfit around this new-to-me deep red blouse. I love this rich colour - I've been looking for a good piece like this for a while.

Of course, I spattered lasagna on it at lunch. I washed it out with soap in the bathroom sink at work (because I am Klassy like that), which took out most of the stains, and now into the wash it goes.
It's a good bonus with 100% polyester blouses. Washability!

I wore the jacket when I got cold, and when I was outside, but I did spend a chunk of my day with it off.
"Down, must go down, NOW."
We call this "forced lovin'." My cat loves me!

Red + green = Christmas. *sigh*
The jacket and the skirt - possibly the shoes - will be packed away with the summer stuff soon. I'm starting to think of what stays out, what is going to remain, and what's leaving me.

The giveaway pile grows, but not with anything in this outfit.
I love the fit of this skirt. You can't underestimate the value of a good-fitting skirt. If it had pockets, it would be perfect.

Zipper done up a bit.
The only downside to the whole outfit is that the skirt spins when I'm walking with my shoe/lunch bag and my purse on. I just let it do its thing.

The stuff:
I'm dotty over these shoes! Ha, get it? That's a knee-slapper.

Round bling:
Lots of pattern and texture means I usually keep my accessories to a minimum. Usually, heh.

  • Earrings - Plum
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

Last night was our annual fantasy NFL draft (yes, I am in it). While we waited for 13 guests to arrive, I found Mr. Vizzini snoozing out on the deck.
"Oh, Woman, why must you poke and prod?"
Because look at that furry little head! I have to pet him! He is the cuteness!

This is what I got for my trouble.
"I am a fierce Cat!"
Actually, that's mid-yawn. What a liar! He totally loved the petting.

I will be back on Monday - we have a super-busy weekend ahead, so we both took the day off - with tales of our adventures!
"Who are we talking to, again?"
Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

  2. Oh rats.. that comment went haywire. Again..
I said your cat and the lines which you “make him say” always makes me smile so nice. My cat isn’t nice to me at all. Her mid-yawn is not a yawn but an “I will bite you”. Strange cat. although she is on my lap purring at the moment. Call the papers.. big news.
Love your outfit. Don’t take any notice of the “christmas remarks”. Old fashioned thinking, narrow minded, stuck in a rut.
And I adorethe shoes. As usual.

    1. I think I capture Vizzini's "voice" well, thank you, Greetje! Vizz is a bit of a biter also - cats are such funny creatures.

      Thank you! Yes, I agree.

  3. Better to have a few dumb comments than none at all, who wants to be invisible? Not us, we're far too fabulous!!
That skirt is fab as s the blouse and lacy bomber. Our boys love being picked up for a kiss and a cuddle, don't they? They're just playing hard to get when the grumble at us! xxx

    1. Agreed! We are far too fabulous for these silly comments. Thanks, Vix. Yes, my boy actually does like it, but he's a very willful cat.

  4. I'm with Ally-- I love your shoes. My guess is they wouldn't fit either of us! Every time you wear them I have shoe envy, and I don't see them on the Sol Sana website. I must say, I love that you're not one of the bloggers that links to every single garment they wear in an effort to earn money. I'm so sick of that. Who wants to wear exactly what everyone else wears? I love the shoes with the skirt. Have fun with L!

    1. Aw, sorry, Mel-Bee - by the time I buy new shoes, they're marked way down, so they are older seasons. I don't want to be one of those linking bloggers - I really appreciate your support on that. I do my blog for me! Thank you so much!

  5. Why can't we wear red and green without that Christmas reference I wonder? Your new top is sweet and works well under the lace jacket. I love the shot of you holding Vizzini - great booty! The temperature is beginning to drop here which has me starting to look for jackets and think about tights too - the clothes changeover is looming I fancy.

    Have a fun weekend!

  6. I often think when I wear red and green together it's too Christmassy! I definitely don't get that vibe from your outfit though, I really like the red and green together. Hope that the stains do all come out of the top when you wash it :)

    1. Well, there are 5 commenters here who say otherwise, so let's take back this colour combo! Thanks, Mica! I'm sure it will wash fine.

  8. It's funny how people are reminded of Christmas whenever they see red and green together! Shame about the spinning skirt, as it's got a fabulous print. I love black with a floral print! Love the deep red ruffly blouse and the dotty shoes! With Phoebe it's almost always "forced loving", except for the first few days after we've been away, like now ... xxx

    1. Oh, it was a minor annoyance (the skirt spinning) - I really love the skirt. Hee, hee, cats are funny creatures.

  9. Sheila I absolutely love this outfit, yes colors can be Christmassy but you look so amazing. The fit of the garments, the colors, the print on the skirt and OMG Gookey has come a long way.

  10. I don't get a "Christmas" vibe from this outfit at all (maybe because I'm not a big fan of that particular holiday). The skirt does fit you perfectly. So nice to see shots of the furry kid. Sylvester is a very affectionate cat but isn't crazy about being picked up. He will endure a short hugging session though :)

    1. Oh, thank you, Shelley! It was a wee bit annoying.

Vizzini has gotten more affectionate with us as he's getting older. It's really nice - I hope your Sylvester boy does too.

  11. Ah, the 'ole spinner skirt trick. I'm glad you just let it carousel its way around, no use worrying. It looks fantastic in all directions. Red/green, people go, "Christmas!" Purple/yellow, people go, "Easter!" What about blue/orange?! Poor blue/orange. I love this outfit, Sheila.

    1. Yeah, can't be bothered to hold it in place if it wants to rotate. Blue orange - ya got me!
