Pattern and Purple from Top to Toe

Today was a tough day, going back after 4 days off, but I felt pretty good. I didn't make anyone cry, and I didn't cry - that's my definition of a good day.
Today's outfit was built around the new-to-me silk blouse. It has a lot of blue and soft purple in it, as well as browns and caramels.

  • Blouse - Joe Fresh, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $13.95
  • Skirt - Talbots, thrifted; last seen here in March with bronze and a lovely silk shirt
  • Boots - Libby Smith Bellevues, Fluevog; last worn here in October 2016...with the same silk shirt!
  • Coat (below) - BCBG Max Azria, thrifted; last seen here earlier this month over a fuzzy outfit

Today was also about babying my tattoo - my arm is quite swollen, and tender, and the silk felt like nothing on it. It also kept me warm and breathed so that I didn't overheat. Silk is truly a miracle.

One day, I will dye my hair the colour of this skirt. I'm mostly grey now, but still enjoying vibrant hair. Not quite yet. One day.
This mohair skirt is a favourite - I've had it for a few years.

Outerwear - if you clicked through on the last time I wore this skirt, you'll see that I did the exact same outerwear as today. I do love a set!
But I like that the purple toes of my boots go so well with the gloves and beret!

  • Beret - consignment
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I don't wear these boots too much anymore - the colour and style are tricky - but they still feel pretty good. I think I need to start my own Fluevog museum for all my lesser-worn shoes.

Oops, forgot to crop my bling picture.
I'm getting rid of the ring - it's too big and cut into my skin a few times. Gonzo!

  • Necklace - vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Ring - thrifted

  1. Glad the return too work wasn't too traumatic. You sound just like me, back in my big bad boss days rarely a week would go by when I didn't make somebody cry. Oh dear!
Those boots!! Big love for them. I can feel the gossamer thin silkiness of that luxe shirt from here.
Your hair is fabulous already but silvery lilac locks would look amazing! xxxx

  3. Going back to work after a break is always hard, so it's good to hear that it wasn't too bad for you. Those boots might be tricky to style, but they're really fabulous, and here they work so well with the rest of your outfit. Your silk shirt looks lovely with the mohair skirt, which looks very strokeable. You might have to keep that one away from Vizzini, our Phoebe would absolutely love it. xxx

    1. Still feeling pretty good today, too, so bonus! Yes, they're such cool boots. The mohair skirt is very much a Vizzini thing - lick, lick.

  4. It's all about the boots for me today Sheila. I just love the contrasting toe, and the buttons too - they're adorable. Hope your arm is settling down and not too painful now. It was a very special thing you and your bother did to commemorate your dad in this way.

  5. First thing I said when looking at your pictures was: I love those boots! Yup, the two-tone color, the purple, the height - all delightful and different. And completely understand how tough it is to return to work after a mini-break. Here in the States I had 5 days off (my school gives us the day before Thanksgiving off, a travel day for anyone needing it) and returning yesterday was tiring and required fighting the blahs!

    1. Totally, right, Gerrilyn? I should put up shelves all over my house to show them off.

  7. The boots are amazing, Sheila! Your new blouse looks so great with that skirt and the boots tie the look together perfectly. I love the idea of shelves all over your house to show off your shoes! Now you just have to decide the admission price to your museum!! Haha :) XXX
