A Helmut and Dragons

The work-week is over and I am glad. Tonight, Friday, we are going out, and I've just gotten up from a quick nap to clear my head of work-stuff.
This outfit already feels so long ago, now that I'm gearing up to go out and be glamourous!

  • Top - Helmut Lang, vintage fair; purchased here for $30.00
  • Skirt - Gianfranco Ferre for Giorgio Beverly Hills, thrifted; last seen here in January with bright red and dots
  • Shoes - Channi B; last worn here in January for mojo-building with teal and velvet
  • Coat (below) - Zara, gift from Dominique; first worn here in October

You'll have to wait for Sunday to see my glam outfit, though.
First wearing of this Helmut Lang top - so fabulous. I'm still not 100% sold on the colour, and being sleeveless (sort of) wasn't such a smart idea (cold arms!), so it's going into the pile of stuff to pull out again in the spring.

I do love all the draping and swooshing of it. The sleeve caught on the bathroom stall door every single time!
But sometimes it's nice to be a little more toned down. The skirt is an old favourite, had it for many years. The moths got to it over the last year, and there's a tiny hole in the front now. Ah, well, we all have our issues, don't we?

I didn't quite have the right coat for the outfit, and made do with this cocoon coat for outerwear.
My fur scarf is bundled at my neck, and my long wool gloves were so fine and warm.

  • Scarf - Danier Leather, thrifted
  • Gloves - vintage, thrifted

The stuff:
These shoes are wonderful to wear - I must make an effort to wear them more! The platform inside the front means the heels are less than 1.5".

Dragon bling:
Teal shoes means I can wear my dragon jewelry, a set L bought for me a few years ago at the Vintage Expo for my birthday.

  • Necklace/bracelet - vintage 1930s? gift from L
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Feather ring - Fossil
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, vintage 70s, vintage fair
  • Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl

Here's a close-up of the dragons, guarding their stones.
May your weekend be filled with good times! Mine will!

  1. Hello,
Love this soft and drapey look in the muted colors,
The skirt and the dramatic cut, has drama enough..so color is not needed.
Love the teal shoes and fabulous coat,
    ❤️❤️ Elle

    1. Thank you, Elle - it's a newer thing for me to wear this neutral colour.

  2. I love the drape of that top, it's a beautiful piece! :) I'm with Elle too - the top has enough interest that it doesn't need a bold colour as well (although I know you love and look great in brights!).

Enjoy your night out and your weekend :)

  4. As always, an amazing outfit - but I want to see the glam outfit now! hahaha!! Sneaky heels are best, and the dragons, well, too cool.

  5. I adore that Helmut Lang top and would *not* be tucking it away for warmer weather -- I'd be wearing it through the cold weather with some long sleeved tees. So many of my favorite things get used through out the year that way (or with a chunky sweater over the top for the sleeker things...)

    1. Thanks for your thoughts - I actually have a gigantic wardrobe, so I"m fine with not keeping this out. I have a lot of other fun things to wear!

  6. Wow! I love the dragon necklace and bracelet so much! I was born in the year of the dragon so I have a few items of clothing and accessories with dragons on them but nothing as fab as yours! Hope you're having a great weekend. XXX

  7. Hahaha, I have a top that always gets hooked up on door handles - always makes for interesting trips to the bathroom. The cocoon coat is fab and works beautifully with the pencil skirt.

  8. Very pretty Sheila, this top looks so good with that skirt.
I would even layer it and wear it over a black turtle neck sweater.
    Your outer wear if fabulous.

    1. If I owned a black turtleneck, I might try that - I loathe turtlenecks! Thank you, hon!
