Velvet, a down-filled skirt and new Fluevogs? It must be Friday!
Considering how warm it was last week, I found it a shock to wake up to 3 degrees today!- Velvet jacket - Jacob, thrifted; last seen in February over deconstructed poppies
- Cashmere/wool sweater - Hawick of Scotland, consignment; last worn in July with pink polka dots
- Skirt - Wei Peng Padding Down, thrifted; purchased on the weekend for $14.99
- Boots - Conquer Maleika, Fluevog; purchased with birthday gift cards last weekend
- Grape Ape coat (below) - Forever 21, thrifted; last worn rockin' it over a tube dress in October
We had a mini-blizzard overnight! Look what I woke up to:
Are you freaking kidding me? Snow, in Victoria, on November 3rd?
Layers and warmth were needed!
Nice soft wool and cashmere in the thin sweater, with a vintage camisole under that. Then the lovely stretch cotton velvet blazer. I enjoy that people tell me it matches my glasses. Like I'm not aware of that, ha!
First wearing of this lovely down-filled (yes! feathers! that kind of down!) sleeping bag of a skirt. Oh my gosh, it was so snuggly and warm. L and I are having friends over tonight for scary movies, and I am still wearing it (although Vizzini keeps going after the ties). And considering it's a padded skirt, it's actually rather flattering.
Pockets....yessss...
Outerwear in your face! It's the Grape Ape coat, here to save the chilly day.
It's such a statement coat - I'm down to under a dollar per wear on it, easily.
- Hat - Dex
- Gloves - Parkhurst
The stuff:
First wearing of these boots, and they were fierce! They were much admired by my female coworkers (as was the skirt). They were quite comfy, no rubbing. You can see that the leather in the front of the ankle has buckled quite a bit, just from walking around and going up and down stairs a lot. They softened up over the day - that didn't rub. The soles were excellent on the wet concrete, and the heel height was overall good.
Copper bling:
I mentioned the other day that I was turfing two copper bracelets, and that I had better ones. Well, these are two of my better ones. I prefer the bolder shape of the cuff with the enamel "galaxy", and the link one is just amazingly intricate (I have matching earrings).
- Necklace - Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
- Cuff - Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
- Earrings - Renoir, vintage 60s, Grandma J's
- Cuff - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage fair
Wishing you all a great weekend - don't forget to fall back (yay! an extra hour)!
First of all, aren't these boots just totally awesome? I've never seen anything like them! And then there's the velvet jacket - what a great colour, and in velvet too. I spent about an hour on eBay last night searching for a velvet jacket and dang, now I'm gonna have to go back to have another look.

They're pretty darned funky, that's for sure. Thank you, Anna! I love velvet - I have to resist or I end up with too much of it!
DeleteOh that velvet blazer reminds me of mine, which I have not worn in a while...
ReplyDeleteI am slowly but surely catching up on all your looks :)
No worries, Lorena! We all have busy lives - thank you so much for visiting! Get your velvet out!
