Hey, have you heard? Monochrome is modern! What is it? Monochrome is wearing one colour head-to-toe, including jewelry and accessories. What's monochromania? A made-up word (by me) for those who love this look! As such, I'm a monochromaniac. Well, maybe just the "maniac" part, ha ha.
As you might have read, I'm challenging you, dear readers and fellow bloggers, to try this yourself. Stretch your boundaries, put yourself outside your comfort zone! I'll be featuring pictures of anyone who wants to play along - just drop me an email (it's in my profile) with your photo or a comment with the link to your blog entry (I'll link back). I'll post the round-up on Sunday, so get busy!
Anyway, enough jibber-jabber, it's Friday and you know the wine is calling to me... "Sheila...drink me..." That wine, always so seductive. I won't, however, be wearing this outfit when I uncork that lovely red wine.
Me (aka "Madame Spillypants" as L calls me) plus white is pretty much a disaster waiting to happen. I did pretty good today at work and avoided pen marks on myself and coffee spills, but I did splatter my green curry on my top and right at the end of the day I got cocoa powder all over my pants when I was refilling the coffee machine's cocoa reservoir. Good gravy. However, I enjoyed flouting the "no white after Labour Day" so-called rule and enjoyed my all-white outfit, even though all items are now in the wash.
We have the white drapey cardigan, last seen here in August with my chambray dress.
We have the pretty little white structured top, which was last featured here in July under my denim dress (I love that look).
And then we have the white cropped pedal pushers, which do such nice things for my butt. Heh. I last wore them here (third outfit, after the cat pictures) a couple of weekends ago, after rediscovering them in my little-used pant drawer in my dresser.
This will probably be the last wear of the cardigan, pants and shoes for the summer season. I'll keep the top in rotation as it's a good layering piece.
The stuff:
Fabulously comfy white shoes and the one white accessory I have (well, I was tempted by my bigass white fabric flower but it felt too fussy). I last wore the shoes here last Friday with pink and gingham. They were awesome for rushing around today.
Cardigan (Bellisima, consignment), top (Le Chateau, consignment), pedal pushers (Contrast, thrifted), shoes (Aerosoles, thrifted), earrings (Plum).
This morning I woke up to a layer of fog outside - it is hot in the daytime but we get cold ocean air pulling in overnight. It's getting cooler in the mornings. Soon, we'll have to pull Vizzini's scratching post indoors for the fall/winter.
"I'm watching for falling leaves. I'll report later." |
I called Vizzini to get him to look at the camera.
"What do you want now?" |
"I'm the epitome of catness." |
Ignore my dirty windows. |

Wishing you a weekend of gentle fog, colourful leaves and snoozing.
You are WHITE_HOT in your white outfit!! Pfftt of no white after labor day when you look this good!!
ReplyDeleteI avoid all white for the same reasons you do--I'm a spill magnet!!
AAAWWWW Vizzini--my hubby was looking over my shoulder and remarked what a handsome fella he is!!
Here's my linky for my monochromatic outfit:

You are so brave with an all white outfit! It's good you at least made it to the end of the day before you started spilling things, I can ruin white tops beyond repair in half a day sometimes, haha. I love the look of all-white, it's just not something someone as clumsy as me can pull off sadly.
ReplyDeleteHa, matching cats in the windows! Mr. V is one handsome kitty.
ReplyDeleteThe all-white look is lovely, cute and casual, and you did well to almost make it through the day without spillage!
Have a great weekend. xxxx
You know I HAD TO stop by and leave a comment. The white outfit is so gorgeous. I absolutely love the top and your cute shoes. :)

I love all white, it just looks so chic! Love for you to check out my blog too. xx
ReplyDeleteI like when you surprise me -- it's educational. I wouldn't have thought plain white could be attractive but, hey, I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong. This outfit rocks. The full extent of its whiteness creates a nice look. Although I shuddered when I read you were planning to drink red wine. :)
ReplyDeleteTerrific in white and yes! to the butt-shot : > I wore olive green yesterday and ruined my top with oil at dinner. So all-white can't be much different, eh? Vizzini keeps getting handsomer, if that is possible.
ReplyDeleteI went monochromatic on Friday! I've been not sleeping, so trying to come up with outfits has been hard, but your blog was the last thing I read before I went to bed, so it was the first thing I thought of when I looked at my closet. No pics (the aforementioned sleepiness is leading to some huge eye baggage!) but thanks for the help!
ReplyDeleteEvery fall we go through the same routine with Willy and our oak trees. The leaves flutter by and acorns shoot down like bullets. On a good windy day they bang into the windows. And each and every year Willy climbs through the metal blinds to 'chase' them all. Hopefully handsome Vizzini is brighter than that! Been loving your momochromatic week. It looks like you have too! xx
ReplyDeleteYou look fab in that all white look.
ReplyDeleteI have tried the all white look and seem soo washed out.
luv the leather pants..you would look great in black or red leather pants..
