Monochromania continues! And because I'm in a hurry tonight, here we go. Purple!
I think I could probably do about 6 monochromatic purple looks and not duplicate anything, not even my shoes. This was an easy one, but I was iffy on the outfit until I saw the pictures. Then: yay!It was a very active day for me: my company did their annual "corporate walk" event, which I organized, and I literally ran all over, back and forth, making sure everyone followed the route, got in the pictures, etc. I was dripping with sweat after that!
Plus, it's a super hot day out (I tell ya! Summer is not over yet!), and I got sweaty again on the walk home. Shortly, I'm off to my Tuesday night WW meeting, and then I can relax when I get home around 8pm tonight. A long day. But enough of my whining! Purple!
This is my lovely soft violet cardi that last wore a few weeks ago (here, 2nd outfit, with orange!), and there in the first outfit of that link is the last time I wore these awesome lavender Camper shoes.
The skirt is my one-of-a-kind silk Smoking Lily chair skirt that - whoa! - I last wore in the December 2012 capsule (recap here). It's a tricky one to style, and the elastic at the waist is all baggy (it's currently safety-pinned on each side to my camisole and my Christian Dior lace half-slip). I'm glad to wear it again, though - it really is a lovely dark amethyst.
Purple stuff:
I had a choice of two purple belts (not including obis with purple in them!), and went with this skinny plum one (which I coincidentally got at Plum a few years ago).
Purple bling:
Little grape glass ball earrings, and some home-grown vintage 80s amethyst jewelry.
Sweater (Kenar, consignment), skirt (Smoking Lily, consignment), shoes (Camper), belt (Plum), earrings (don't remember, but bought them second-hand), key (don't remember), ring/crystal/S (gifts in the 80s from Mom and Dad).
Calling all bloggers! Try a monochrome outfit this week! Any colour you want! Send me a picture (my email is in my profile) or drop me a link in the comments and I'll do a round-up of all the monochromaniacs on the weekend! Go for it!
Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYea for purple!! LOVE that skirt! Thanks for the birthday wishes too xx
ReplyDeleteI do love purple! Those Camper shoes are great, and the skirt (with the minor adjustment) is a beauty. Nice one - though a touch of the grape would have been appropriate for Winesday, no?! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt, and I do hope you have someone more local than I (down here in Southern California) who will fix that waistband for you. (I've been reading your blog for over a year, but mostly via a feed reader, so I haven't commented before.) I also love the Camper shoes, even if they're not Fluevogs.
ReplyDeletePurple is a great energizing colour, the perfect shade to get you through that crazy day. Well done re. organizing the corporate walk. Wine away.
ReplyDeleteLovely purple outfit! That skirt is such a beautiful piece :)
ReplyDeleteI gave the monochrome look a try...not sure if it was any good! I will have to email you :)
Ślicznie wyglądasz:)))bardzo lubię te kolory:)))Pozdrawiam serdecznie
ReplyDeleteGreat color. Vibrant and vivacious.
ReplyDeleteI love all the purple!! It's such a rich and almost royal feeling color and it's a color that works extremely well on you.
ReplyDeleteLovely colors - those pieces make a great monochromanian outfit! And that reminds me that I never wear my amethyst necklace. Maybe today I'll wear it - with red.
ReplyDeleteIt's still hot here, too. I think it's been over 80F every day since late May!
We are having our hottest day since mid july today-UGH Come on FALL!!
ReplyDeleteThat said--you look amazing in purple!! I adore that skirt-could you take the elastic in??
And your jewelry is fantastic--I love amethyst (and why do i not have any? It's my birthstone!!)
Planning my monochromatic outfit for Friday when it gets cooler!!
Beautiful SHeila - I have come to realize that you do have a lot of garments in this color.
ReplyDeleteWhich brings me to ask, is this your fave color ?
Gorgeous purple-ness! You sound such a good colleague - making sure it all works, everyone takes part, etc. I recently heard about 'pollinators', highly facilitative people who make connections between projects and people - I think you are a pollinator, Sheila! x
ReplyDeleteOooh! I've missed that skirt! It's so awesome. I'm loving your monochrome looks!!
ReplyDeleteLovely skirt styled to perfection!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a brilliant week that was Sheila! Thanks for leading me back to this. It seems I cocked up big time with my styling as I misread monochromatic for monochrome. But hey, in the grand scheme of things it's not really that important is it?
ReplyDeleteAnna x
Pfft, don't worry about it - no one noticed, I'm sure, ha ha! Thanks for checking this out, m'dear.
