Another hot day...but it's Friday, so weeee!
Despite how this long-sleeved outfit may look, I was actually cool and non-sweaty all day. This is my vintage 90s red silk shirt (last seen here, with my polka dotted silk pants) with my fitted denim vest (last worn here, with yesterday's skirt).I really like the contrast of the rich drapiness of the silk with the stiff faded denim. And gosh, you've got to love how well silk breathes! And yet it keeps you warm. Silk is just magic, that's all there is to it.
On the bottom is my "splatter" skirt (last worn here). This is just the perfect skirt. It swooshes nicely (Swoosh Factor: 8/10) and is so perfectly shaped. The only thing that would make it better would be pockets.
My red wedges finish it off (last seen here, 2nd outfit, also with my polka dotted silk pants). I walked all over downtown today and they felt great.
Hey, all my clothes today are second-hand! Go, me!
Shirt (Elite International, vintage 90s, thrifted), vest (InWear, consignment), skirt (no label/handmade, thrifted), shoes (Miz Mooz, consignment).
I'm taking a couple of days' break from the blog this weekend and am taking Monday off; Land I are off to see his folks (road trip!). I've put together a 5 item mini-capsule for travel, so watch for that on Monday.
Have an awesome weekend, everyone!
Cheers,
Sheila
Silk just always feels like going naked to me! The shoes are darling...and I hope that the road trip goes well.
ReplyDeleteSilk is a magical material! And the red looks fantastic on you. Have fun on your roadtrip. Can't wait to see pictures from the trip.
ReplyDeleteOh, silk and denim in combination, plus gorgeous colours! This is stunning on you, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend away!
You look super cute!! Love the vest as well :) Heather
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, I just mentioned you on my blog! http://tinyurl.com/bmkx2xz
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy your blog vacation as well. Of course, your splatter skirt is near to my heart! And your shoes - not only do they look fabulous but you can walk all over the city?! What a wardrobe staple.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your mini break! :) Really like this outfit - the denim vest does pair so well with the pieces :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip, Sheila! I love the "splatter" skirt and the way you paired it with the denim vest is so fab. I'm drooling like a kitty over those red peep-toe wedges.
ReplyDeleteSheila, silk is magic! I agree with your statement. I love love love silk. And, I always wash my silk in the machine ( hand wash cycle, woolite, garment bag). I would love to find a red silk like yours.
ReplyDeleteLove the swoosh factor rating scale too.....how fun. Every girl needs a good swoosh now and then.
I'll have to devise a swoosh scale for my ballroom gowns....LOL!
That skirt is a beauty! It just jumps off this page. And the colors are perfect for you of course.
ReplyDeleteWe were in Victoria on Monday but I didn't have a chance to let you know because we stayed in an area without any internet access. I found the Dots store and loved it in there. I bought a crocheted sweater tunic and can't wait to wear it when the weather cools down. It was very hot in town that day.
I mentioned to the store clerk that I found their shop via your style blog and I described you to her. She said she knew just who I was talking about. ;) So, if she tells you someone mentioned you recently....it was me. ;)
No worries, Joni, I'll catch up with you next time. Ha, I'm sure they knew exactly who I was - I've been shopping there forever!
DeleteSafe travels! I love the silk blouse dearly; that color is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI loved everything about my skirt on Friday, except for its lack of pockets :P
I so love the colors in that skirt!!! You and L have a wonderful time!!
ReplyDeleteI think this may be my favorite outfit so far, and you've got a lot of great ones!! Somehow the colors jumped out, a harbinger of fall which I'm craving. The shoes are HOT without being self conscious!!! I love (thrifted) silk too and have been finding a lot of great pieces.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful break,
This whole outfit is awesome for me...adore the red.
ReplyDeleteLove the length of this skirt. Seems that women are gravitating toward slightly longer skirts which are so flattering. :)
Firecracker skirt! It's perfect with the wedges which I'm still coveting! I hope you and Logan have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip Sheila! I agree that the skirt cannot really be bettered, the print is so eye catching. I like to wear silk scarves in the heat, I think they keep me cooler than having just a top on, but someone will always ask if I am hot wearing them...
