Oh, it's a hot one today. I am dying here. And what did I do today? I wore a freakin' sweater.
So I was slightly inaccurate yesterday when I said I'd worn the last "fresh" capsule item - I forgot about this sweater. This is really the 30th item. Really!I've had this sweater since last September (worn here, 2nd outfit, with my silk polka dot pants!), when I bought it on consignment for $16.00. I last wore it here in January, and here in December.
My awesome olive parachute skirt makes another appearance (last worn here), as do my lime kitten heels (last seen here).
I thought the scarf tied it all together. I wore it draped down the back so that I could protect my tattoo if I went out into the scorching sun.
I like wearing scarves this way.
Believe it or not, I also wore a piece of outerwear: my jean jacket. It's not part of the capsule.
Just in case I'm out in the sun, it fully sunblocks the back of my neck.
For jewelry, I'm wearing a bronze leather wrist-wrap and brass link bracelet, and my bronze leaf earrings. Pretty simple stuff. I tend to ease up on accessories when it's 30-odd degrees out (and yes, that is Celsius).
Jacket (Ann Taylor Loft), sweater (Reitman's, consignment), skirt (Cute Options), shoes (Circa Joan & David, thrifted), bracelets (Club Monaco), earrings (Plum).
After work, I took one of my coworkers shopping at Dots. It was hard - no air conditioning! She did quite well. I didn't shop for myself, but I did find these two things:
They're both by Noa Noa: knee socks and a pair of thick tights (gawd, I can't even think about tights right now), both in "hyacinth." The socks were $5.99 and the tights were $9.99.
The shoes are so pretty, I love the color!
ReplyDeleteLove that skirt -- it's very Norma Kamali.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was hot, hey? But there was a cool breeze in town that made it bearable. I love this colour combo, especially the lime shoes! And great pastel outfit yesterday too - I particularly love that jacket. I sometimes wear my scarves tied down the back. I like that sleek look, like pearls down the back.
ReplyDeleteYou got a cool breeze? Lucky! It was so still last night, we just roasted.
DeleteI love that green skirt so much, Sheila. Paired with the pink sweater, it's a wonderful silhouette and color mix. Scarf down the back -- must try today!
ReplyDeleteSheila, I love this colour combination, so fresh!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great scarf and your skirt is particularly fabulous.
I feel for you with the 30C melting - hope you have a more comfortable day today.
You make me kinda hot and panty just thinking about wearing a sweater right now. Someone turned off the a/c in the office last night.
ReplyDeleteBut you also make me long for my thrifted pink sweater, and tights, tights, tights! You look so chic in the parachute skirt. One of the things I love about your blog is your unique clothes - and how well you style them.
I love the color combo and I'm not a pale pink gal!!! The skirt is AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what capsule your new hyacinth tights show up in!!
Tights don't count as capsule items, so as soon as the weather's cold enough, I'll be busting them out!
DeleteNot only are you the most unusual fashion-blogger I know, you wear your unconventional items with style. The backward scarf is such a cool idea. And if you're ever in a plane experiencing trouble, this skirt will soften your descent. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, yes, although I don't think it will slow me down much!
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words. :)
That is a neat skirt! I don't know that I would be able to pull it off quite as well as you!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you interpret your style through your clothes.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever decide to give up that skirt, I could give it a good home on the East coast. =)
ReplyDeleteNoa Noa tights are lovely - good find!
If I get tired of it, I'll send it over!
DeleteLOVE this color combo, especially with that magnificent skirt. I'm wanting and wishing for sweaters and tights right now. This has been the longest summer in my memory.
ReplyDeleteAt least you looked very stylish, even if you were too warm! The skirt is beautiful :)
