I had a very intense weekend - I got one of my tattoos redone!
I wore this purple dress that I wore when I got my last tattoo:here (last outfit).
I've only had the dress since April 2011 (first worn here) and wore it only one other time here (when I got my crow tattoo). I paid $11.50 for it on consignment.
I got up early on Saturday morning, and was down at the tattoo shop by 9am. Leroy and I worked for just over 3 hours on redoing my salamander tattoo (go here to see my original tattoo). I'd realized since I first got it that I shouldn't have been so prescriptive in how it should look; I should have trusted Leroy to make it badass from the start.
|Yeah, that "deer in headlights" look that says, "You are about to be in a world of hurt."|
It's been lovely and hot all weekend, so I knew I would need to cover up to keep out of the sun. Enter another "fresh" item in the capsule!
here) poncho is a cotton/silk blend and makes an excellent physical sunblock. I got it for $16.95 thrifted.
Dress (Lady Dutch, consignment), shoes (La Canadienne, consignment), obi (Smoking Lily), earrings (Le Chateau), poncho (BCBGMax Azria).
But I know you're dying to see the new ink!
Today, I walked down to get groceries, and then head over to an ocean-front restaurant to sit on the sunny patio with my gals.
Hence the yellow strapless dress (last worn here, 2nd outfit).
here, 2nd outfit). Of course, my fruit bag went along.
I only took the poncho off to show off my tattoo, but this is what it looked like.
The back - yay! Matching ink!
Dress (Jacob, consignment), poncho (BCBGMax Azria, consignment), shoes (Wild Diva, swap from Caro), earrings (gift from Megan), hat (Facinie).
I popped into a couple of thrift shops while I waited for my bus this afternoon. I found this incredible cotton J. Peterman Company blouse for $8.00.
|I don't know about you guys, but that always makes me think of "Seinfeld."|
I also grabbed a couple of fabric belts and a new Matt & Nat bangle for $8.50.
And how was your weekend?
The 'new' tattoo looks amazing! Three hours....you're one brave, strong woman. Totally worth it though!!ReplyDelete
Your tattoo looks great! I really like it with the ivy too! 3 hours is a very long time, you're so brave! I really like your purple dress you wore too, the poncho is a nice cover-up.ReplyDelete
I LOVE the tattoos side by side. So yin and yang. Lovely!ReplyDelete
Ohmigosh, the salamander looks like it dropped from a branch to your shoulder! So beautiful! You're making me want to give my bee some flowers to buzz around . . .ReplyDelete
The redone tattoo is so much more striking than the older version! I also went against my artist's advice and refused to entertain the thought of any color. My bad. You've shown me the light, (or in this case the color, ha). You've got mucho points in my book for going three hours on the thing; I start whining after the first hour.ReplyDelete
Gorgeous ink! I like that the salamander is big enough not to be threatened by the birdie.ReplyDelete
I like the new tattoo!ReplyDelete
The purple dress is fabulous. It looks so comfortable and pretty.ReplyDelete
And the tattoo is AMAZING!! I love the colours and it really looks like its climbing up your shoulder. Sweet!
The new white blouse is pretty and frilly. Will be a nice fall piece.
The new ink is STUNNING!!ReplyDelete
Love the purple dress!!Especially with the yellow ponch!1 and the yellow outfit was so gorgeous and "beachy"
Nice thrift haul--the blouse is really awesome!!
The new salamander is gorgeous! So colorful, like he's going to jump right off your back. I can see why you're so satisfied! Love all the pretty yellow you've chosen for August.ReplyDelete
Your all yellow ensemble looks spectacular !ReplyDelete
I must admit - even though i am not a tattoo person - that your tattoo is a real work of art and you are my hero for being in pain for 3hours! i am such a wimp.
Beautiful tattoo! What a weekend :-)ReplyDelete
Your tattoo-friendly wardrobe (while your skin heals) sounds inviting -nothing constricting etc.
Ohmygoodness! It's GORGEOUS. It was beautiful before, but now both tats are complementary and just pop against your pale skin. Great choice for a cover up too.ReplyDelete
I still haven't taken the plunge. Haven't overcome the fear of needles yet. Oh well, eventually. I've got time.
First, I want to see the magic closet where all the dresses keep coming from. They keep getting awesome-er and awesome-er. That purple one rocks!ReplyDelete
Second, the tattoo is spectacular, and I am not easily impressed by tattoos, despite wanting one badly since I turned 48.
Wow, your salamander tattoo is amazing. Even I can see that and I loathe tattoos in general. :)ReplyDelete
Wow, that salamander went from a cool sketch look to one that looks like it's in 3D! Very cool.ReplyDelete
How did I miss this post? I hate when that happens.ReplyDelete
Gorgeous tattoo. You're a real badass, Sheila; I only pretend to be as cool as you. :)
Your new ink is SPECTACULAR! Sal looks like he is climbing right up to your shoulder! I am wicked impressed! I am also impressed with how your outfit complements your tattoos so beautifully! Way cool!ReplyDelete
You're a very cool chick! You have style!ReplyDelete
