Apr 18th - Outfit #15 - Pink and Cognac

I am realizing that no matter how much I love this blouse, it's not going to work in my wardrobe.
For one, it's silk. Armpits + silk = wrinkles. For two, the shape is wrong. For three...well, I can't think of three, but it's just not quite there. In the past, the colour would have been enough for me to pass on it, but I've had a change of heart when it comes to pink. It does good things to my pale (and aging) skin. It helps that I am not a natural redhead (I'm a brunette).

Anyway, I last wore this blouse here, and I'll probably wear it again this month, but it's not going to stay in my wardrobe. I do like it better tucked in.

The pants, however, are another matter:
Damn, I love these leather pants! I feel so badass in them, and I love the colour and the cut. I am really glad to be wearing them more as an everyday item instead of saving them for special occasions. I last wore them here.

I had intended to wear my red shoes with this outfit, along with a red belt, but the belt was too short to sit at the top of my hips, and the shoes were the wrong style for the outfit, so I swapped out to the black shoes and the dark brown belt. I added the zebra buckle (I love having belts that you can swap out buckles).

The stuff:
I last wore the shoes here.

Blouse (INC, consignment), pants (Gap, 2000, thrifted), shoes (Enzo Angiolini, thrifted), belt (Shi Studio), buckle (She She Shoes), earrings (made locally).

  1. It's a great colour, but if it has to go, it has to go! Love the pairing of leather and silk, though!

  2. I love this color scheme. Those pants cannot get any cooler. Sorry the pink blouse isn't sticking around. Sometimes things just don't work out. I'd definitely keep an eye out for that shade of pink again though. It looks great on you.

  3. I agree with you- the shirt works in theory but there's something about it that doesn't seem "you." However, before reading your post I went "wowzahs" on the pants. They suit you well. Keepers for sure.

  5. ^that's a cool idea. I know what you mean though...some things just don't work. I can't wear that kind of neckline style at all--the seam over my bewbs like that just, uh...makes them look way out of proportion or something. I agree with you though, that pink is a wonderful color for (any age, actually) very pale skin. In fact, that particular pink is so perfect for you that I'd stash it for a while to make sure you bring some more of that amazing shade into your wardrobe. It's SO flattering!!! --signed, another pale brunette-gone-redhead who has learned to favor pink :-)

  9. Gasp! Not a natural redhead?? You look born to it. I am a "decided" blonde : > I do understand when a piece just doesn't make the cut - esp for someone with such a fine designing eye as yours. The color is wonderful, though. The pants = wow!

  12. Could a pair of scissors not resurrect this blouse? But that would involve work... Too bad. Although I like your pairing with the leather pants!
