Whew, the end of a very long and stressful week...
I'm feeling better, and I'm looking forward to a couple of things: Ultimate starts tomorrow (woo!) and the Steampunk Expo next weekend. Fun stuff indeed.
Today was a simple outfit with another one of those things I've had forever: my denim dress:
I bought this about 5 years ago when I first lost weight, in a Ricki's in L's hometown (seriously, for you Canucks, you know what Ricki's is - that's stylin' for that town). I first wore it here, in 2008, and last wore it here, in August 2011.It's one of those items that is indispensable, and like the patterned top in yesterday's outfit, it's survived many a closet cull. I've never found another denim dress that's been as versatile.
You can't see it here, but I'm wearing this (2nd outfit) sparkly tank underneath it (not part of the capsule). I'm also wearing my Noa Noa sheer floofy underskirt to give me a bit more coverage and visual interest.
I kept up the purple theme with my lavender Campers, last worn here.
I also added my purple necklace. This is made up of beads (the vaguely triangular ones and the one big oval one) from my great-grandmother. I made this necklace after a visit to a local bead shop several years ago.
The earrings are ones I purchased at a vintage store in the late 90s.
Dress (Ricki's), cami (Costa Blanca, consignment), shoes (Camper), belt (Olsen Europe, consignment), necklace (beads, vintage), earrings (vintage).
The dress is a perfect fit, no wonder its a keeper! I've been on a serious closet cleaning kick and I'm afraid I'm gonna regret it...
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling a bit better, it has been extremely difficult the past few days for you, I can only imagine!
ReplyDeleteYou look great - love the skirt under this dress!
My tiny hometown only wishes it could have a Ricki's! That is stylin' indeed for small town Canada :)
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks fantastic on you as it skims your trim figure and looks perfectly fitted in all places. It is indeed an excellent find. Also, I love that you always add an expected element to make it totally Sheila. You are a genius with accessories, and I am bookmarking this because I want to learn.
Finally, it's good to hear you're feeling a bit better. I've been thinking of you all week.
Sounds like fun times ahead. I'm glad you've stuck with that denim dress because it's great! The tulle underneath is a perfect touch. I love all the smokey purple details.
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous denim dress that'll always be in style. I love the touches of purple in your outfit.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty and shapely dress - and the beads from your great-grandmother are lovely too. I wore a skirt under a dress this past week, and thought about you, as my inspiration!

ReplyDeleteI've been away from my computer this week, so please forgive me for not sending my deep sympathy for your loss of Inigo until now. I know from sad experience this is the hardest part of pet ownership. He was obviously a very special cat.
ReplyDeleteGlad you survived the week hon. Good old Ricki's...they do have some fantastic staples. Love that dress and how you 'dressed' it up. I also love the re-working of your great-grandmother's beads. I have several necklaces from my grandma that could use some similar love. I hope next week is so much better to you. xx
ReplyDeleteUlitimate freesbe!!??
ReplyDeleteI went to a Pechakucha presentation a few months back and heard all about it !
I would not make it through the first 20 minutes.
