A Meet-Up and More Fringe

I got an email the other day from Marie, a reader of Ephemera from way back - she was going to be in Victoria to see her mom and wanted to get together!

Of course, I wanted to meet her!
We're at my favourite lunch diner where we chatted and ate. We went to a consignment store after that, then we trekked up to the thrift boutique. We didn't have too much luck at the thrift store, but I got a few things at the consignment store, and Marie found a lovely Danier jacket!

I wore this awesome wool/cotton sweater along with this fab denim skirt, both gifts that Christie sent.
It was a great shopping outfit; nice layers and not too warm or too cold.
I wore my Shi Studio belt and buckle, and my comfy walking boots.

I bundled up in my python jacket.
That's a new-to-me Danier Leather bag that I picked up on Saturday. I've been looking for a real leather brown bag for years - and that one was only $39.99! I thought that was good.

Jacket (Bebe, thrifted), bag (Danier Leather, consignment), scarf (Danier Leather, thrifted), gloves (Parkhurt), sweater (Merona, swap from Christie), skirt (Jones New York, swap from Christie), boots (Miz Mooz).

Today, I wore two of the new items I bought this weekend: the skirt and the shoes:
Yes, another fringed suede skirt! Joining my fringe skirt family, this one is a very orange-y red and is quite a lot shorter than the other two. It was overpriced at $32.99 on consignment, as it's not sewn very well. After wearing it all day, I noticed it has some marks on it, and the stitching is not done very well. It's not lined either. I'll probably consign it after I've worn it another time or two.

But it fit well and it was fun to wear!

My thrifted wrap top (2nd outfit) was a change from my usual "I want to be a cowgirl" look that I've done with fringe before.

My outerwear:
That bag is going to get used a lot.

The stuff:
Aren't the shoes crazy? I've been stalking them for about 6 months, waiting for them to go down in price. They were regular $368.00 and I finally managed to snag them at 50% off. Yup, still pretty pricey, but they are Cydwoq (mine is the Rho) and those don't come cheap. There is another pair at the same store that are flatter that I also have my eye on. Maybe after Christmas?

I first saw Cydwoq (pronounced "sidewalk") on Audi and they seemed really odd to me. Maybe my eye has adjusted, because I think they are amazing now. I am in deep lust with their Victorian-style boots.

They are fully handmade and although they don't have any padding in them, they are one of the most comfortable shoes I own.
I liked the pops of blue in this outfit - the cami and that wrist-wrap are the same cerulean shade. I stacked all the bracelets on one arm.

Top (Talbot's, thrifted), cami (InWear), skirt (no label, consignment), tights (Esprit), shoes (Cydwoq), coral bracelet (Plum), blue wrist-wrap (Club Monaco), black bracelet (Le Chateau), earrings (The Cobbler).

  1. That green sweater looks really plush - how cool you got to meet a reader!

The new fringe-y skirt is fab! But I did a double squint at those shoes! Cydwoqs! I knew it as soon as I saw the close up. They're surprisingly "normal" when styled up.

I keep an eye out for cydwoq on ebay. I've been rather obsessed with a couple of the styles since seeing them on Audi's blog too. Nothing popped up yet. Jealous of your find!

  2. Oh! I forgot to say: I found a near new pair of Tsubo heeled sandals at the thrift store. I nearly cried when I saw they were a 9! Oh well, someone else's good deal.

  4. I'm also glad you got to meet up with a reader. As someone who's nervously awaited a stranger for such an encounter, I know how exciting (and scary) that can be.

Your clothes never cease to astound me. You find and pick the best stuff.

  8. Sheila, it was so fun meeting up with you. How lucky I am to have had the experience of shopping with you in your favorite shops! You sure have a fantastic eye to catch the most flattering and unique pieces. Thank you again for making me discover that grey-green jacket, I got lots of compliments already. So sorry about the burnt orange skirt's craftsmanship caveats. It does look really good here, especially paired with the leopard wrap top.
    Cheers
    Marie

  10. Beautiful outfit in general, but the shoes are really a killer! They give that special final touch to the whole combination.

There is no Cydwoq store in Montreal (as yet) :( But I already have an eye on a couple of those shoes. Probably have to visit my friend in Ottawa :)
