Woo, what a week! I'm glad it's over, but now I'm feeling the crunch of Christmas right around the corner. Thank goodness I've been distracted by....
Invasion of Dress Week!
I saved a new dress for last - I got this dress at Winners last Friday for $59.99:
Seeing as it was Casual Friday, I had to wear some denim, so I hauled out my old faithful jean jacket that I got in NYC a few years ago.
Here's a better look at the dress:
It's Calvin Klein, just like yesterday's dress. It's actually a true red (it's looking pretty pink in this lighting, thanks, winter) and is a nice poly weave. It's got pleats up near the waist that give the skirt a lot of fullness and swing.
I added some tough details, like the grommet belt and my studded leather wrist cuff.
It has a gold zipper up the back:
I also layered my floofy Noa Noa skirt under it, and did a chunkier shoe. These are my Tsubo Acreas. I liked the lacy tights - they remind me of ants climbing up my legs, hee hee.
My outerwear:
The colours looked much different in daylight, with the chartreuse and deep red making a sort of Christmassy look. It was actually too warm for the hat, I took it off.
Dress (Calvin Klein), skirt (Noa Noa), tights (Esprit), belt (gift from Ruth), cuff (vintage 80s), shoes (Tsubo Acrea), coat (Planet, consignment), hat (Roberta's Hats), gloves (Club Monaco, consignment), scarf (Danier Leather, thrifted), bag (fake Tod's, thrifted).
Right after work, I had to rush home and feed the cats. I changed up my outfit a bit before I caught the bus back downtown to join L at his work Christmas party.
I swapped out the grommet belt for this thrifted vintage 80s one, changed my shoes and changed my jewelry to dangly rhinestone earrings and my mom's 70s rhinestone bracelet.
You're not going out again, are you? |
And I changed into more festive outerwear:
My leather jacket and turquoise suede gloves.
Dress (Calvin Klein), tights (Esprit), belt (vintage 80s, thrifted), shoes (Guess), earrings (Jacob), bracelet (Birks, vintage 70s, Mom's), jacket (Le Chateau, consignment), clutch and gloves (Accessorize), scarf (Danier Leather, thrifted).
Today was spent on very pleasant things: shopping for myself, shopping for L, my mom and my nieces and having lunch with my wonderful Winesday Women!
Today, L dropped me off at the post office to pick up a package - it was from reader Christie! She'd won a prize in my October Wardrobe Challenge, and I sent her this skirt. Today, she sent me a cardigan and a denim skirt, along with a lovely card. I'll be wearing the items this week! Thanks so much, Christie!
Did you notice the crazyass tights up there? They have silver threads that make the pattern, so they're quite sparkly! I got them at Winners for $7.99.
That's my 40th birthday dress (2nd outfit) that I've had for ages (coincidently, another Winners purchase back then). I don't know if I'll ever give it up; it's so comfortable.
Of course, if I had yellow legs, I had to wear my yellow jacket!
I liked the burgundy gloves with this. I got a lot of compliments on this look from salespeople.
Dress (Max Studio), tights (Emilio Cavallini), boots (Aldo, consignment), jacket (Danier Leather), scarf (Danier Leather, thrifted), gloves (Parkhurst), bag (Licence), jewelry set (Shi Studio)
Hope your weekend is going great!
Oh, wow, Sheila: that dress is beautiful. I've been looking for one exactly like that for my party next month. Too bad you're half my size.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow jacket is amazing, too. You have the best wardrobe in all of Blog World.
That's a great dress and I love both sets of tights. Now that I'm not completely off shopping retail, I'll have to scope out my nearest Winners
ReplyDeleteFirst I was oohing and ahhing over that red dress with the ruffley bits hanging out. Then the coat. Then the transformation into the party look. THEN the next one AND THOSE TIGHTS.
ReplyDeleteI want to build a color story out of the colors here. They make me happy!
LOVE the crazyass tights! What a fun color and pattern!
ReplyDeleteThe new dress is lovely! I bet it will also be great to style up during the summer months. I also love how your transform it from day to night.
ReplyDeleteLove your yellow tights with the yellow jacket. Huzzah! for another Dress Week well finished.
I just started reading your blog a few days ago when I stumbled on it via a Pinterest post. I have not seen anything that I don't like. I absolutely love your blog and fashion sense. And this new yellow and black outfit if becoming one of my faves! I am so happy that I stumbled onto your blog. Merry Christmas.

Love the unexpected extra colors in the last two outfits; the teal gloves are great with the red dress and white jacket, and you know I mad about the two yellows in that last outfit. Love it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that yellow jacket - I'm crazy about yellow! It plays with other colors like a neutral.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm glad my package FINALLY arrived! Merry Christmas! :)
