Big Sleeves and Bright Colours

A busy week is on the horizon - I thought I'd inject some colour into it right away.
This fun blouse goes so well with this skirt. I had high hopes.

  • Blouse - Vero Moda, consignment; purchased NWT here for $28.00
  • Skirt - Danier Leather, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in August with pink and paisley
  • Shoes - Prepare Guide, Fluevog; last worn here (3rd and 4th outfits) in August for the Barbie-themed Winesday Pool Party
  • Leather coat (below) - Banana Republic, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in April

However, I didn't end up liking the blouse while I actually wore it, despite the very attractive big sleeves.
The wrap kept scooching up under my boobs, not a look I like.

My natural waist is where my hand is resting.
Ah well, it was worth a shot.

I did enjoy wearing this lovely purple leather skirt again.
I might keep it out for fall/winter - I like having some bright colours to offset all the gloomy weather.

Incognito.
It's Leather Weather!

Accoutrements:
I was glad of these in the morning, but overheated on the way home.

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
Love these shoes! They are packed away for winter, so this is likely their last wearing until next March.

Summer bling:
I pack most of my turquoise jewelry away for the season too.

  • Stone/silver bracelet - Salt Spring Island, gift from L
  • Red/silver bracelet - vintage 1930s, vintage mall
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Turquoise ring - Glee

Have you done your closet swap-over yet? Too soon?

  1. What a shame about the misbehaving blouse, as the colours and pattern are stunning and it looks absolutely fabulous with the skirt!
I haven't started my swap-over yet. Can't believe that suddenly October is on the horizon, it's like I didn't see it coming ... xxx

    1. It was annoying, Ann - I love the fabric and the fit, but once it started riding up I couldn't wait to get it off.

I know, October seems to have snuck up on us, hasn't it?

  2. LOL I put away two pairs of ankle length pants and then a few days later the weather was just right for them. Nope, I resorted to other items in my closet (to answer the unspoken question. ;)) I also pulled out some long sleeve tops in fall colors. These days our mornings are chilly!

The blouse has fabulous color but that doesn’t make up for the waist issue. The skirt is a beauty and the blouse is a bust. Ah well, we know that happens. Am trying to figure out how the top could be modded to work but nothing springs to mind that wouldn’t ruin the blouse.

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. That's too funny - this time of year is very changeable here, so I always have a few "shoulder season" pieces I can incorporate with summer stuff. The mornings are cold here too (single digits).

It does not make up for the fit, dammit. But yes, that happens, and I can't be bothered to fix the issue (I don't think it's fixable). I'll just pass it along.

  3. Hi there,
It's a shame about the blouse! I find tops like that don't work for me either! I like the blue skirt of joy and the pretty blue shooooooes!
September is my absolute worst time for dressing myself- the weather is so weird, you always end up either too hot or too cold and the September sweats are the worst!x

    1. I hate it when clothes don't fit right, but I'll just pass this along. I know, the weather is crazy, isn't it? Layers are the key!

  4. The wrap kept scooching up under your boobs hah. I have a similar problem with a wrap top I recently bought. Did a big photo shoot and was severely disappointed when I saw the photos.
I hate it when I think I have come up with an awesome outfit and it turns out to be all wrong (which happens a lot with me).

    1. It's very disappointing, isn't it? I hate that too - but it forces me to re-evaluate the pieces and toss ones that don't work for me.

    2. I know, which means I often say goodbye to items I just bought. I never seem to learn.

  5. Wrap items can be tricky. The fit has to be just right in order it to work and sometimes it isn't. Shame about that blouse, the pattern is lovely.
    Awesome skirt!
