Green Copy, Mille Miglia Shoe Twin and Board Kitty

A bunch of my favourite colleagues were in the office today, so I gave them a good shot of green.
I'm featuring this new-to-me cotton pencil skirt that I picked up on the weekend, and I'm not at all ashamed to say I copied an outfit from June.

  • Blouse - Free People, consignment; first seen here in June with a chartreuse leather skirt
  • Skirt - J. Crew, consignment; purchased here on the weekend for $20.00
  • Shoes - Fast Cars Mille Miglia, Fluevog; last worn here with this same blouse in June

Different skirt and slightly different jewelry, but otherwise, it's the same.
As I stood in my closet holding this eyelet skirt, I realized that it's close to being a copy of my chartreuse leather skirt.

If all these pieces were good enough for the leather skirt.
...they'll work just as well with this skirt.

Which was fine, but it's lined in cotton, which I dislike.
I had a little bit of Cotton Cling on my nylons on the way home. Do I really need another bright neon/chartreuse pencil skirt? Hm.

Incognito.
My coworkers loved seeing all this colour.

The stuff:
I took my shoes off after everyone left around 2pm. Low heels tomorrow, feet!

Green bling:
I have a good mix of greens there. I was glad of the scarf in the morning - it was rather chilly!

  • Silk scarf - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Necklace - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Enamel bangles - thrifted
  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Green stone bracelet - vintage mall
  • Shiny cocktail ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Silver/malachite ring - consignment
  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment, Vancouver

Shoe Twin: Mille Miglia

I love it when I find a Shoe Twin in the "wild", especially on a celebrity. You might remember my excitement over Doug Jones' fabulous shoe fashion sense, here

I spotted Condola Rashad on Go Fug Yourself back in June (link here, 'cause I love), wearing a familiar pair.
As the Fug Girls said, "This is a PARTY!" - I so agree!

Sorry, Condola, I'd never heard of you (Wiki page here), but I did remember your parents, Phylicia and Ahmad, from the 80s.
Anyway, excellent taste in shoes!

Sometimes blog readers wonder when I say, "L and I played board games" - am I actually playing board games, or is that some sort of euphemism?
"It means, Cuddle Time."

Yes, we really play board games. L and I learned "Lost Ruins of Arnak" (about it here) this past weekend.
"I'm disappointed."

It's loads of fun - we played two games and I can see this being in our regular rotation of about 5 games we regularly play.

Vizzini is looking for elastic bands, his favourite thing to eat (we stop this, don't worry!), which we use to bundle cards when we put the games away.
"What if I asked real nice?"

He once grabbed a deck of small cards and ran off under the bed with it. He's (mostly) grown out of that, thank goodness.

He loves to sit on L and will flop on his lap while we play. He's gotten used to all the movement.
"I love the Man."

And yes, he also enjoys the cuddles.

  1. I applaud your old-school attitude toward board games and everything else. Why should we give up fun stuff just because someone wants to sell us an inferior electronic product? Plus, you can keep playing a board game even if the electricity goes out. :)

    1. I like interacting with people, in person. L and I have played board games by candlelight when the power's gone out.

  2. Board games for the win! Card games are a big hit when we have family over, especially Hearts, War, Rummy 500, and Go Fish. In any case, when you and L play board games it’s really playing with three :) as Vizzini is definitely a player!

The lime green requires shades for viewing ;) but interestingly it seems less bold when you have the scarf around your neck. Maybe the scarf balances the intensity by spreading it around?

    Cheers,
    Laurie

    1. I grew up playing cards too, Laurie, mostly cribbage, rummy, rumoli and Canasta. Vizzini always has to be watched - he's a token thief.

That's interesting - you're right, the scarf balances the brightness, drawing the eye away.

  3. Maybe this skirt is for summer weekend wear, without hosiery?

    1. Yeah, probably - I'll pack it away till next summer and try it again before I decide.

  4. Forget Pretty in Pink - you look gorgeous in green!
I laughed out loud at the idea of "L and I played board games" being a euphemism. I believe you! ;-)
    P.S. Fabulous shoe twin!

  5. The shoes really lift the outfit to another level.
I laughed about readers wondering if board games were a euphemism haha. Whose mind is in the gutter LOL. I love board games but Ron doesn't so we never play. I do play Rummikub with my mum though.

  6. Awww, L and Vizzini are adorable together. The boys hanging out!
What an outfit. That skirt is marvellously vibrant and the shirt and shoes look so good with it that I don't blame you for recreating the whole outfit. xxx
