Today's outfit stars my new-to-me pewter leather skirt.
I chopped a good chunk of the hem off it last night. Yes, I did measure and draw lines, and I superglued the ends of the seams.
- Jacket - Citrine, vintage, consignment; last worn here in November 2022 with gold and burgundy
- Sweater - Zara, pass-along from Rae; last seen here in November 2022 with a plaid Bodybag
- Skirt - Laurel, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
- Shoes - Napoleoni, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in October 2022 for live theatre in a golden lion dress
- Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in January
Why? The dated-looking design was ripped and poorly repaired (pic here)
This is still a comfortable length for me for a short skirt - not bare-legged, but with tights. I also like that it's a loose comfy fit and has big pockets. I noticed that the skirt matched the grey stripe in this beautiful brocade long jacket. Wonderful!
Because nothing goes with this jacket! You need a closet full of black clothes and chic basics.

I have some black, but chic is not really my wheelhouse (classy/klassy, that's me).
I'm also 5'4" - and the proportions are tough on me.

My colleague Stefanie was in the office today.
She admired my coat...and I offered to her on the spot.

I spent the rest of the day like this. I'm going to let this thin sweater go - I have upgraded to this Prada cashmere (Always Be Upgrading...but you have to let go of the old iteration!).
The camera didn't focus and I didn't notice in my rush this morning. You can sort of see the pleating of the skirt there, but it deserves another (better) outfit. I'll wear it again soon.

Outerwear. Feeling my inner secret agent!
I prepared for rain - and it did, but not while I was outside.

The leather skirt looks great after the chop and I love that pewter with the mustard jumper, they work so well together. That brocade jacket was a good match but I agree about the proportions, it swamps you. Stef's a lucky lady, she looks lovely and your generosity will be rewarded with an amazing find very soon, that's karma! xxx
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is a very flattering piece!
ReplyDeleteGosh, that Stefanie was one lucky girl. I've done this once as well. In the street, one of my neighbours said she liked my top so much. I took it off there and then and said "Here you are". So funny to see someone's face when you do that. (Don't worry, I was wearing another top underneath.)

Love the outfit.
ReplyDeleteWell done on giving that leather skirt the chop! It looks amazing with those tights - of which I have a green cousin I haven't worn in ages - and that posh jacket. I understand why you had to let that one go, though, and the great thing is that it's gone to a great home. It looks absolutely amazing on Stefanie! And you do make an excellent secret agent! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gesture! The coat does look gorgeous on Stefanie, although it looked great on you too!
