Snow Day: Profesh Pattern Mix and Purples

It snowed overnight, a mere 2 cm/1.5 inches, but it shut the city down all morning.
I dressed for my usual Tuesday, which is an office full of my management team. Gotta look profesh!

  • Blazer - Smythe, consignment; last worn here with plaid and ruffles earlier this month
  • Sparkly sweater - Jessica, thrifted; last (barely) seen here (2nd outfit) last weekend
  • Skirt - Vince Camuto, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
  • Shoes - Classy Nora, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) for an Arola brunch earlier this month
  • Coat (below) - Terry Lewis Classic Luxuries, thrifted; first seen here a couple of weeks ago

My view from the stairs this morning. It snowed sideways, as you can see from the spire of the Castle.
That crow took off just as I clicked.

View from the bedroom window.
The Garry oaks look so pretty with snow all over them.

Back to the outfit! This is how I looked for most of the day, although the office was dead.
I walked around a bit, visiting colleagues and warming up. Brrr, winter sucks.

I adore this jacket - it's such amazing quality. Real wool, real leather patches, all buttons have workable buttonholes, real pockets, lined up fabric.
I also loved how well its pattern mixed with the new-to-me skirt.

The skirt was excellent, by the way - but it's a rotator.
It made at least two full revolutions around me while I walked to and from work.

Annoying, but not the end of the world.
I'm likely to assign it to my spring/summer wardrobe, as it's a very lightweight garment, in spite of the full lining.

I was happy with all my matchy colours.
I have shades of purple, magenta and burgundy in this outfit, but they all go.

A gold leather coat is totally a neutral.
I was a little chilly outside, but all of the snow was gone by the time I walked home - the sidewalks were even dry. Spring is on the way, with its variable weather!

Accoutrements:
First wearing of the silk bug scarf - feels just like my first bug scarf, shockingly.

  • Scarf - Smoking Lily, c. 1996, Mom's, acquired here
  • Hat - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Gloves - Thinsulate, thrifted

The stuff:
Love these shoes - they're so badass.

Matchy bling:
I've had the bracelet, necklace and earrings set for...10 years?

  • Necklace/bracelet/earrings - Myka, gifts from L
  • Brooch - Eaton's, early 00s
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, Dad's, c. 1965
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall

  1. Very beautiful Skirt Sheila, but shame it keeps rotating, maybe wearing a Slip might help?
Is there a way to stop the rotation?

    1. No, it's already lined - I don't need a slip. Some skirts just do this.

  2. A rotating skirt would drive me mad, but I'd be in a forgiving mood if it's a stunner like that!
Perfectly profesh pattern and colour mix, and I totally get why you love that amazing jacket so much.
Atmospheric photos of the snowy castle and Garry oaks. That's how I prefer snow: in photos rather than in real life :-) xxx

  3. More snow! Looking very beautiful though.
Your jacket is a stunner! The purple/burgundy shades look gorgeous with gold.

  4. Look at that snow!
Gah! I loathe rotating skirts, they're on a par with tights with descending gussets. That gold mac is all kinds of wonderful! xxx

  5. Rotating skirts are a pain! This is so pretty though, I really like that top with it and I love the print mixing with the beautiful blazer! Definitely profesh, but still fun and stylish and you!
