Mom's Muppet Sweater and Pink, in the Fernwood

I love these short weeks after a long weekend. Today's bonus: Belfry Theatre with Yvonne, Randall and Nancy, yay!
I wore the same outfit for work all day, then dashed home, fed Vizzini and walked down to the Fernwood neighbourhood.

  • Sweater - handknit by Mom, mid-80s; acquired here last week
  • Skirt - Ronit Zilkha, consignment; first seen here in January with orange
  • Shoes - Enneagram Individualist, Fluevog; last worn here in October 2022 with my vintage puzzle dress
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here a couple of weeks ago

Yes, of course, I had to wear Mom's Muppet sweater right away! It's so deliciously thick and warm.
And it was a very chilly day today - and on top of that, our office building had no heat all day. Brrr!

As when I first tried it on, I tucked the front of it in.
This nubby knit is amazing up close. It's made of all the Muppets: Grover and Cookie Monster especially.

I liked it with this pink wool-blend skirt.
All this colour felt good.

Outerwear.
This coat is not thick enough for this weather, but dammit, none of my other coats are made for 80s sleeves!

Accoutrements:
Some purple things.

  • Beret - consignment
  • Silk scarf - Fluevog
  • Leather/cashmere gloves - Danier

The stuff:
These shoes are such a perfect match. Comfy too! I ran an errand during the day and walked to the Fernwood Inn for dinner (Randall and Yvonne gave me a ride home).

Silver bling:
Big bold shiny things!

  • Crystal cuff - Swarovski, consignment
  • Earrings - local
  • Fulvia Ring/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Mesh metal cuff - Sidney

I took my camera but completed forgot to take any pictures of us! We went to see "The Unplugged" (about it here, link 'cause I love).
And that's the Belfry Theatre itself.

I walked past this alley, behind an old Gold Rush-era building. One of my coworkers lives upstairs here, and there are good restaurants on the ground floor.
I like the artwork in the old windows.

My destination: The Fernwood Inn, aka The Winchester (a Sean of the Dead reference).
It's a lovely old pub and we had a nice dinner, loads of food and drinks and then enjoyed the show.

I got home around 9pm, and Vizzini hounded me for kitty treats.
"You were 4 minutes late."

  1. I'm sorry about my lack of reading your blog. I was not feeling well and have to check your blog, because not receiving emails when they're is a new post. But I'm going to catch up!

  2. Loved seeing the architectural delights of the theatre and your very own Winchester!
Glad you have a good time with friends...and as ever, you were dressed the part. I was working out how to style a couple of skirts I purchased recently and was surprised to discover that there's an art to wearing a sweater or slouchy jumper with one. It's all in the tucking in. I think you nailed it though!

  3. What a perfect first outing for your Mom's Muppet sweater! Plus, Grover and Cookie Monster are among my favourite Muppets :-) and those shoes make me squeal in delight whenever you're wearing them.
You're right: short working weeks are the best, and what a treat to have dinner and a night at the theatre on a weekday! Vizzini must have been annoyed, though! xxx

  4. First of all, that sweater is AMAZING! Second, OMG THE WINCHESTER?! We always joke about our local Winchester which is nothing like the one from the movie but is where we always go even when I don't really want to hahahaha!

  5. You live in such a gorgeous place, the architecture is always so varied and lovely.
That jumper is fantastic and perfect with that leather skirt and your fabulous hair and killer shoes bring the1980s bang up to date.
I hope Vizzini got loads of treats - four minutes late? How dare you! xxx

    1. It's rather a hodge-podge, but I like it. The skirt is actually a thick wool - thank you! Ha, he was apoplectic - I gave him his treats right away as he had murder in his eyes.

  6. I have a few 80's sweaters with wide wide arm-holes and they don't make coats these days to accomodate that shape of sleeve. Thank goodness I have a couple of 80's coats that work ;)
