Gram's Pink Sweater, Plus Stripes

Another frigid day - I layered an extra sweater under my sweater!
I was utterly thankful for it, too.

  • Sweater - handknit by Gram S, c. mid-80s, acquired here in Mom's closet raid
  • Skirt - Tibi, consignment; last worn here with black and white and a dash of pink in January
  • Boots - Groovy Husymans, Fluevog; last seen here in October 2022 with a red leopard suit
  • Coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last worn here in December 2022

A crow was posing perfectly near the Castle this morning.
There were seagulls surfing on the brisk winds as well.

I liked this sweater, but the pattern doesn't photograph well.
I also discovered that under the bright office lights...one of the yarns is dark blue, not black.

I should have known - my Gram never ever wore black.
I echoed the stripiness of the sweater with this boldly striped skirt.

It's a lovely thick stretchy fabric.
And I was all about comfort today.

At least I was able to wear a warmer coat!
Although the gale-force winds blew it wide open.

Accoutrements:
All of my warmest pieces.

  • Fur boa - thrifted
  • Cashmere beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - consignment

The stuff:
My booties didn't quite work with the outfit, but my feet were happy.

Black and white bling:
And one pink!

  • Octagonal bracelet - vintage, vintage fair
  • Striped bangles - consignment
  • Pink ring - vintage mall, gift from L
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. It's getting cooler here again and I hate it. However the sun will be shining! But its time to start wearing the warmer sweaters again here too. Have a lovely day!

    1. Yup, this last month-6 weeks of winter is always the coldest, it seems. Thanks, Nancy!

  2. I love how the stripes of Gram's jumper echo those on the skirt, you are clever!
How brilliant to capture that crow, it makes the castle look even more atmospheric. xxx

  3. Your Gram's jumper is gorgeous, but oh the times it happened to me that what I thought was black turned out to be navy :-) It must be really cold if you're wearing a jumper under your jumper, though.
That photo of the castle with the obliging crow is fantastic! Could be straight out of a horror movie! xxx

  4. The sweater and skirt is a fun combination. I've been looking for a thick knit skirt to wear in the colder weather but haven't found anything I like so far. We are getting temperatures of -8 to -12 this week but then up to above zero next week. The winter has been soooo weird!

  5. That jumper is beautiful and I love how you have combined the stripes. Very bold, but it works!

  6. I like the pairing of the different stripes together! That looks like such a cosy knit, so it must have been super cold to have to layer under it too. I don't know how you manage to look so stylish in the cold so consistently! It doesn't even get that cold here in winter and I struggle, haha!

  8. Imagine that, a sweater knitted by your grandmother! Not many people your age can say that. And it is lovely, really good. I love the skirt as well.
