Snakes in the Garden

I'm feeling a bit cheered at the signs of spring lately. Like it being brighter in the stairwell, daylight when I walk home, and wearing blouses without a jacket or sweater.
It's also prime Leather Weather, a favourite season of mine.

  • Silk blouse - Brooks Brothers, consignment; last worn here in November 2021 with my red leopard suit
  • Skirt - Creation Jez, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased here for $38.95
  • Shoes - Coffee Sumatra, Fluevog 2011; last worn here in December 2022 with a tossed tartan dress
  • Coat (below) - Jeno de Paris, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in December 2022

My view this morning at 7:30am.
It's pouring rain there and blustery.

I built my outfit around this new-to-me oxblood leather skirt, which was an absolute joy to wear.
The leather was thick and soft, and I love the rich colour.

I was happy how well it went with this densely-patterned silk blouse.
I'm a sucker for roses, and this blouse is a garden full.

That's a short-ish slit in the skirt - I couldn't quite take my usual ginormous strides.
I must say, my bum looks good in this! Go, me! I've been cutting back on the chocolate lately.

Masked up.
The tights are micro-fishnets, and I have a camisole on under the blouse.

Outerwear - it's Spy Mode again!
I popped out during a brief sunny break mid-day, without the hat, scarf and gloves, and a kind person said, "You look pretty!" to me. Thank you!

Accoutrements:
I clipped my hair up under the brim of my fedora to keep my hair dry. I much prefer my fedoras in the rain over an umbrella.

  • Scarf - Pierre Balmain, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Hat - Edward Mann, vintage, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
These are such pretty shoes - the heel felt fine, and I walked several blocks in them while I was out "in the wild." I even dashed for a crosswalk!

Snaky bling:
Did you notice the snake pendant hiding amongst the roses?

  • Belt - Rodier, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Glass pendant - Venice, gift from Mom
  • Fang bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Earrings/hinged bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, gift from L
  • Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair

  1. Very beautiful Leather Pencil Skirt Sheila, which fits you perfectly. Shame though the back slit is not a bit higher but I assume you need to take shorter strides.
Is it fully lined from top to bottom?

  2. Very snazzy outfit and it complements your frame beautifully. Been enjoying all your posts even though haven’t been commenting. It’s been a roller coaster here but hoping to share some upbeat news in a few days. :)

Cheers to you and your Mom,

  3. Spring? Spring? Did someone say Spring? No sign of it here yet.

  4. Oh yes, that skirt looks fabulous on you. I hear you on the short strides, I've a few maxi dresses that restrict my walking. Jon always walks extra fast when I'm wearing them just to annoy me! xxx

  5. That oxblood leather skirt is even more gorgeous on you, and the rose patterned blouse is absolutely perfect with it! The belt is fantastic too. Hearing you on the skirt's walking restrictions, though, as I'm usually taking ginormous strides as well :-)
Swooning over your leather trench, you've really got the most fantastic coats wardrobe!
No chance of wearing a blouse on its own just yet here, as temperatures have dropped again. But at least we've had a couple of sunny days, which was an absolute joy! xxx
