Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Fancy Friday in Lilac and Blue; Pool Party Caftans; Sunday Dress and New Swordfish

Welcome back, my friends! We have three outfits to get to, plus pictures from the 3rd Annual Mrs. Roper Pool Party (woo!), so settle in and let's get started.

Friday's office outfit - although we've had lovely weather this week, it's still a little chilly, so I layered a cardigan over my dress.
I love how close the colour of this cardi is to my hair.

  • Wrap cardigan - Kersh; last seen here in May with chrysanthemums
  • Dress - Talbots, thrifted; first worn here in July 2021 with blue shoes
  • Shoes - Zoomies Ishshoes, Fluevog; last seen here in May with a mishmash outfit

This is as close to a "girly" style as I get these days.
The hem of the dress is very swooshy

It swings around when I walk, and billowed pleasantly as I went down stairs.
Without the cardigan, although I never took it off.
The groovy shoes and chunky pearls help keep this on the funky side instead of the frou-frou side.
If this dress had pockets, it would be an A+.

Masked up.
It was a quiet day in the office with only a few folks around.

Incognito.
Who is that? I don't recognize her!

Accoutrements.
A scarf for sun coverage on my neck.

  • Scarf - Fluevog
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
L and I walked down to the pub after work on Friday - I switched out these shoes for these navy blue Born flats (consignment; last worn here, 2nd outfit, in August 2021). My feet were tired.

Round bling:
I love the ginormous pearls on this necklace.

  • Mesh bracelet - Stella & Dot, consignment
  • Pearl necklace - vintage, consignment
  • Cuff - Swarovski, consignment, gift from L
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

After a very fun evening of board games and music, we were up for a rousing game of Ultimate Frisbee on Saturday morning. I pulled a muscle in my butt while sprinting, so I had to take it easy for the rest of the game, and I'm limping a wee bit as a result.

L and I showered, changed and went to town to do our weekly grocery shop.
Yes, I wore this to the grocery store.

  • Caftan - Elle L'Exclusif, vintage, thrifted; purchased here for $24.95
  • Flats - Born, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in August 2020 for a short shop in town

I also wore it for our 3rd Annual Mrs. Roper Pool Party for our Winesday at Marian's house.
I didn't have to time for two outfits in the day, so just rolled with this one.
I loved wearing this dress.

I had it on from about 1pm until 3am!
The side slits are high enough for walking, and although the dress has no stretch, it was just right.
Masked up, for the grocery store and in the cab on the way home.

Incognito.
Who is that woman? She looks so mysterious.

And dramatic!
Movie Star Wrap of the scarf for being in Vlad. I also wore my scarf tied around my neck later that evening.

Accoutrements:
I adore that woven purse.

  • Purse - Street Level, thrifted
  • Scarf - Smoking Lily, 1996, gift from Janet
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
I'm surprised that I didn't wear these at all last summer! They are usually a go-to when I'm going to be on my feet (shopping) or post-Ulti.

Matchy bling:
A mix of stuff. The white twist-tie in the front is from a bulk-bin purchase of sour jujubes (I recognize the code!) - I used it to secure the two grommets at the neck of my dress, which is missing its original tie.

  • Belt - vintage 60s, Mom's
  • Shark cuff - Tom Binns, 2012, consignment
  • Bangle/earrings - Alexis Bittar, consignment, gift from L
  • Amber ring - c. 1997
  • Silver/smoky topaz ring - Anneli Neumann, consignment

And now...Winesday pics! Caro's 17-year-old son Rowyn drove us partway out to Marian's - he's just gotten his learner's license, so can't drive when there is more than one family member in the car. Although he's known his "Winesday Aunties" since he was born, we are deemed too distracting, so Caro drove us most of the way, and he drove home.
From left: Ali, Yvonne, Caro, Rowyn and Cat.

Marian's house is finally finished!
We had a tour later in the evening - OMG, it's like something out of Architectural Digest.

But we are headed up past the barn (aka the workout studio) to the pool.
Once it got dark, we settled on the house porch (on the right), and partied till the wee hours, when our cabs showed up.

I see people up at the pool!
There was lavender everywhere!

Yvonne, Marian's friend Jenn and Marian!
Looking fabulous, ladies!

Cat, Petra and Yvonne.
All plastic glasses near the pool.

Sarah's here!
Pose, baby!

And who's that behind her?
Vero! Love her $12.00 thrifted Club Monaco feather vest (that would have retailed for over $400 new!).

Jo and Linda are next!
Joanne was too fast - I wondered who brought the macarons! Linda made her dress herself!

I brought this amazing Trina Turk dress along for Sarah - it was too big on me, sadly. I bought it here for $32.00.
It fit Sarah perfectly! Aw, darlin', you look amazing!

Linda, Jo, Jenn and Marian.
We dove into the food! So hungry!

Petra brought surprise guest Sarah, who used to be in Book Club 15+ years ago - she's Petra's husband's sister (which is how we met Mac - Sarah brought him to Ulti, as she used to play).
It was so good to catch up with her! From left: Sarah, Vero, Petra and Caro. Dig Caro's cute velvet sundress!

As soon as we ate, we had to go in the pool.
Everyone in! We hung out in the pool for close to an hour, bouncing, chatting and playing on the pool toys.

Some of the gals headed for the hot-tub, where they spotted Rod doing laundry.
He's a handsome guy, so they are having an ogle, ha ha!

I'd bought this caftan here for $11.95 and given it to Cat, but it was too long on her. Once again, Sarah was the lucky recipient.
Oh my goddess, doesn't she look amazing??

I took a selfie in a mirror with the two of us.
Damn, honey, you are looking so fine!

As usual, spending time with my amazing family of Winesday Women fills my cup - I woke up happy and refreshed, having enjoyed everyone's company until the wee hours.

L and I slept in a bit on Sunday, then got dressed - we had an urgent errand to run.
Yes, I dress for errands. This lovely light cotton dress is perfect for a sunny day when I don't want to load up on sunblock.

  • Dress - Apanage; last seen here in June 2021
  • Shoes - Swedish Hasbeens, consignment; last worn here a couple of weeks ago with a dotty dress

L had blown the seat in the pants of his blue suit and needed a new one. See, urgent!
He wears a suit and a shirt and tie to work every day.

He has five suits that he rotates - they tend to last for 3-5 years.
We headed down to Outlooks for Men, a fabulous local menswear store.

Found a suit, and ordered a green one in too (a colour L's been looking for for ages).
Me? I just lounged around, resting my sore butt muscle, looking fabulous.

Masked up.
And using the same bag as the day before.

I didn't wear a scarf, as it was just a quick jaunt.
But I was incognito.

Accoutrements:
Yup, seen both of these before.

  • Purse - Street Level, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Not much walking in these, although we did make one more stop before heading home.

Simple bling:
A few things of Mom's.

  • Choker (amber and sandalwood) - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Gold hoop earrings - 5th anniversary, gift from L
  • Brass/jade ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Smoky topaz/silver ring - Anneli Neuman, vintage mall

We popped into the Fluevog store, as I'd seen that this pair had been reduced in their recent sale. I don't buy black Fluevogs very often, but these are such a good basic (ha, this is what passes for a basic in my shoe collection), I had to get them before my size sold out.
They are the Marquess Swordfish Floyd and were $399.00 (that's the rest of my income tax return "gift" to myself). Link here 'cause I love, if you want to match me!

There's a swordfish on the sole, and it says, "Swordfish Stay Sharp."
As these are unisex, this is a men's size 7, a women's size 9 (I usually wear a 9.5).
Regular price $469.00.

I am excited to wear these. They are insanely comfortable!
Must build an outfit!

And how's your weekend going? Anything exciting going on? Tell me all about it!

Thank you so much for swinging by!

  3. Although I am loving all three of your fabulous outfits here, my favourite without a doubt is that stunning caftan. What could have been more perfect for wafting around the pool party at Marian's house? Her house, by the way, is absolutely fantastic, the stuff of dreams. And look at you glamorous ladies having the time of your lives!
I've got a similar round woven purse, which is long overdue an outing, so thanks for the reminder.
Your new Fluevogs are stunning, although I must admit I rather baulked at the price, even with the reduction! xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! I refrained from taking pics inside - for their privacy and because I got overwhelmed by all the perfection.

Purse twins! I know, I gulped, but I'd be kicking myself if I missed out on them while I waited for them to be marked down further.

  4. Each outfit shines; you’ve nailed them all! Here’s hoping your glute muscle(s) are soon back to being comfortable.

I recall the previous pool gathering when there was video posted of a fashion show. :) Thoroughly enjoyed reading about this year’s event. Lots of friends coming together to revel in one another’s company. ❤️ There’s usually a good chance some of your prior purchases make their way back on other people; you might subconsciously be shopping for them. ;)
Yay for L and his two new suits!

We had a quiet weekend as our family crew has headed south for the week to visit more family. Good week to be away - heat alerts coupled with air quality alerts have kept us mostly indoors.

    1. It's not my glute, but the bit that helps you push off - it's very sore, but thank you, Laurie!

That was two parties ago, actually! We mentioned it, but then couldn't be bothered to set it all up and do a new video.

      That sounds lovely! Stay safe!

  6. What an amazing house - and a pool, too! It looked like a fabulous time was had by all. I absolutely loved your kaftan - so glamorous! And the new Fluevogs are astonishing. I was worried you'd gone and bought an actual swordfish and what Vizzini might think...

    Have a great week,
    xxx

    1. This is the only chance all year that I get to swim - no one here has pools, it's very rare.

    1. It started with four of us and has expanded over the years. It's amazing to have such a collection of smart, funny and gorgeous women as friends.

I'll have to wait for it to cool off slightly - those are not warm-weather shoes!

  9. Oh, I just love that maxi dress. It's so dramatic!

  10. The Talbots dress is great but I don't like the cardigan with it. Spoils it a bit IMHO.
I love the Apanage dress. So light and summery. Your new shoes are very much you Sheila. Congratulations with another pair of your favourite brand.
The weekend with your friends looked marvellous.

    1. Yeah, I get that, but I get bored with a dress I can't layer stuff with.

I like that Apanage dress, but don't love it - it probably won't last too much longer.

Thanks! I love these and am dying to wear them but it's too hot right now!

It was an amazing weekend! Ah... :)

  11. Oh that pool looks good! It's the middle of winter here! That caftan is amazing, although I couldn't pull it off, it needs an owner with flair like you!
