This outfit is the result of my redoubled effort to Wear My Scarves. This vintage scarf matched both the velvet jacket and the dress. Win!
As many of you adored this dress when I first wore it in the summer, I kept it out for fall...but it's not a good cold-weather dress. It's definitely a spring dress, so it's been shoved behind my skirts and is ready for me to rediscover in late March/early April.
I thought I would avoid Velvet Rage with this outfit, but I was stymied once again. The jacket caused both my vintage slip and the cotton dress lining to ride up.
I was sweaty and aggravated by the time I got to work. I wore the dress like this for most of the day, putting the jacket on when I got chilled.
I had to re-jig my outfit for the walk home.
Masked up.
I ended up carrying the jacket in a cloth shopping bag, along with some groceries.
I should have just worn the jacket done up like this (as far as it will go right now), and then added my outerwear accoutrements.
It poured all the way home anyway and I got soaked.
Outerwear. It all looks so neat here... I took the hat, gloves and scarf off on the way to work.
But I wore them on the way home - the beret kept my hair dry. My grocery store cashier loved all my colour.

I ended up moving the brooch to the collar of the jacket once I saw the pictures. Placement is everything!
I'm having visions of you fighting your clothing on the street (and sorry, but it is making me laugh just a little). Sometimes you just have to learn the hard way :( On the plus side, it all looks wonderful in pictures.

DeleteI love how well the scarf coordinates but it's a shame the jacket frustrated you - it's a great topper with this outfit! I'm sure you will have forgotten about it the next time you pull out this pretty dress in spring! :)

That really is a great dress, and it's great worn with green, but I understand completely about the "clothing you have to fight with" and I try to avoid wearing items like that if at all possible.
