Purple Hues in Spring

Back to work today, and another outfit that I pieced together last week. I used to have a huge collection of purple things (because I had very purple hair!), but that collection has been weeded down to only a few.
Of course, a "few" in my closet means I have purple shoes, boots, skirts, jackets, tops and dresses. For most people that would be "many."

  • Blouse - Fei, consignment; first worn here in October 2020 with purple velvet and blue shoes
  • Skirt - Diane Von Furstenberg, consignment; first seen here in March with stripes
  • Boots - Effortless Sophia, Fluevog; last worn here in May 2020 with vexing velour (Flashback there too)
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here in March for a photo-shoot with Mom at the Castle

I put both this top and this skirt into the spring/summer wardrobe after buying them both last season. It was a given that I'd pair them together.
I bought this top because I needed purple patterns - because of course, purple hues are some of the hardest to match!

It's now that I fall back on the "it doesn't have to match, it just has to go" adage.
Getting in a wearing of these boots, that I didn't wear much last season - I must have been traumatized by my "bad velvet" the last time I wore them.
They're pinky-rose on the back. Cool, eh?

Masked up.
I don't have any purple masks, but since I did some blue (I have a blue cami on in addition to the belt), I thought this navy and gold one worked fine. Maybe one day...this year? next year? we won't have to think about matching masks to our outfits. Wouldn't that be sweet?

Outerwear - it was still chilly in the morning.
Although I posed with it open (I'm such a poser!), I didn't wear the leather jacket unbuttoned at all.
It was only when I was walking home with two heavy bags of groceries that the gloves and silk scarf and leather jacket felt like a bit much.

Outerwear stuff:
I loved how the scarf looked with the blue of the jacket and the purple skirt. Matchy! Woo!

  • Silk scarf - Lanvin, vintage 80s, vintage mall
  • Gloves - Danier Leather
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I hope I'll get in another wearing or two of these boots this season. They are very cool and comfy too.

Round bling:
That bracelet fell off me multiple times today - one of the links is breaking and needs soldering. I do not have a soldering iron, sadly.

  • Belt - Danier Leather
  • Necklace/earrings - Venice, Italy, gift from L
  • Brutalist brass ring - vintage mall

And now, off to enjoy the deck which is a toasty 30+ degrees, as someone has already discovered.
"I'm maximizing my sun coverage."

I love his back foot resting on the arm of the chair. Silly kitty.

I'll be back on Friday with a two-fer of outfits. Have a good rest of your week, my friends!

  2. Morning She, that wonderful scarf seemed to be the icing on the cake for that outfit. Blue and purple look good together. Your outfits always look great then when I see the outer wear pictures well it gets even better. Thanks for making my mind up about that jacket I have had it for years and not worn it for ever so off it goes! (I really do mean thanks) have a great say Shazxx

    1. 'Morning, Shaz! Aw, thank you so much - I loved how well it matched the outfit. I always factor in my outerwear to make sure it complements the look underneath (whatever part of it is showing, at least!). I'm glad you sent that jacket off - that colour did not sound appealing. You can find another one in a bold colour that suits you more, I know it. :)

Have a fabulous weekend, my dear!

  3. The proportions are just right and, oh my, the jacket adds that touch of WoW, a spiffy outfit on its own and with the outer wear!

I always appreciate when you share the history of your purchases, especially your anniversary and travel purchases. Had an interesting self observation...my most interesting, colorful and fun summer top was purchased in Olympia, WA. My favorite and most interesting winter dress was purchased in Montréal. My favorite skirt was purchased in Victoria. :) I live in NY. Maybe I am more adventurous when traveling? Or like clothing as souvenirs? Probably both!

Hope your mouth is feeling fine after the periodontist visit, and here’s to sunshine and warming temps!

    1. Thank you so much, Laurie! I am still a little iffy on the blouse, as that sleeve style is not super-flattering on me, but for now it stays.

I love having clothes/jewelry from our travels - it always reminds me of the good times I've had. I think jewelry, especially, is an awesome souvenir of one's travels. It always fits!

Thank you, all done, and although still a little sore, I'll be right as rain by the weekend. It's going to be a glorious one!

  4. You look lovely in purple! I don't think it's a colour I have a lot of in my wardrobe either but I do like wearing it! And I like this top - the print reminds me of a more vibrant saturated version of the purple kimono I have! I really need to wear it more often!

    1. Thank you so much, Mica! That surprises me, as I know you love blue, and purple is very much adjacent to it. Break out that purple kimono, my dear!

  5. A "few" also means "many" in my closet. Phew, so glad I'm not the only one :-)
That purple skirt and patterned blouse are just meant for each other, and together they make my heart sing. Love your blue cami playing peek-a-boo and matching the belt. And of course, those boots just had to be worn with this outfit. Ha, I don't think I have any purple masks either ... it would be lovely not to have to wear masks anymore, but in the meantime, they're just another accessory to play around with. I cannot for the life of me understand why people would wear boring masks or *** shudder *** one of those ugly and polluting disposable ones!
Aww, look at Vizzini basking in the sunshine! He sure knows the best spots! xxx

    1. LOL, you are not the only one, Ann! :)

Thank you - I think so too, and I'm glad they are together at last. I also really love the blue matchiness (I nearly wore the matching blue shoes). I also don't get why people wear the ugly disposable ones! They are so bad for the environment, and so unattractive. Why not wear something nicer?

Vizzini is to be emulated - I need to get some deck time in this weekend!

  7. This is such a beautiful outfit Sheila. I'm a fan of purple, it's a regal colour and one that always seems to carry positive vibes for me. The DVF purple skirt is gorgeous and it fits you so well. The blouse with blue and purple in it has a lovely pattern and it is a fine pairing with the skirt. The boots are fabulous, I love how each side is of different colour. The blue leather jacket is very cool too. Great choice for this purple styling. I have honestly never think of it, but yes, purple hues are hard to match.
P.S. Love that picture of Vizzini enjoying the sun!

    1. Oh, thank you so much, Ivana! I adore purple (hence years of purple hair). Aren't the boots fun? So different. But yes, purples are super-annoying - they are all different hues!

Vizzini is a cat who loves the sun!

  8. Haha, I love your distinction between a "few" and "many"! I think it's probably fair to say we fashion bloggers own just *a bit* more clothing than the average Jo, lol. Those purple two-tone boots are so unique, and I love your skirt too!

  14. Purple is one of my favourite colours, so I totally agree that purple hues are hard to match and subscribe the adage 'it doesn't have to match, it just has to go'. Wise words, dear Sheila!
And a fab outfit, lots of fab colours and a fab pair of boots (I'm in love with them!).

  15. Sheila, I have a renewed love for purple recently and seem to be drawn to it more than ever. I really like this not-so-matchy outfit in shades of purple and blue! And your boots are just magnificent! But I say that every time about your choice of footwear, don't I? LOL Fabulous as always, my friend!
