Cape, Leopard and the Wrong Season

As I've mentioned before, playing around in my closet and actually planning my outfits is one of my favourite things to do.
And other times, I just go with similar things that I've done before, like in this outfit.

  • Top - Lord & Taylor, consignment; last worn here in October 2018
  • Skirt - Banana Republic Heritage, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in January for a quick walk to town
  • Shoes - Entrance Room 502, Fluevog; last worn here in October with orange and pink
  • Jacket (below) - Burberry, thrifted; purchased here for $44.99
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here a couple of weeks ago

Except for a different skirt, this is the identical outfit to what I wore in October 2018 (here).
Yes, this top has an attached cape! Isn't it cool?
I needed to feel like a superhero today.

Clothing as armour!
My kind of superhero wears shiny blue leopard.

I tried to do this new-to-me Burberry jacket with this outfit.
I like how this looks, although the pinky-purple-mauve tone of the jacket looks brownish in these pictures.
This "babydoll" cut is tricky on a curvy figure like mine.

I don't mind that. I just have to make sure I work the proportions correctly (short, slim skirt or trousers).
However, I only wore it walking to and from work, and left it hanging on the back of my office chair all day. It didn't feel right for this season, so I've put it into the spring/summer pile and I look forward to rediscovering it. I'll wear it as an actual outerwear jacket when the weather's warm - it'll be perfect.

Outerwear - good gravy, I love this coat.
I look far too happy there for someone who's only had one cup of coffee!

  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I adore these shoes and nearly always wear them with the matching purple tights. They make me want to stomp around with authority.

Sparkly bling:
The brooch was wasted on the collar of the Burberry jacket. Ah, well.

  • Brooch - The Bay, c. 2001
  • Cuff - Swarovski, consignment, gift from L
  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower

  1. I love this outfit. It's a very classic look but the caped jumper gives it a quirky edge. I love those boots too; they look so cool and comfortable but also quirky. You have great legs!

  4. I love playing around with the items in my wardrobe too. It's total relaxation for me to try things out and assemble possible outfits, complete with the right accessories. And I agree that sometimes you need clothing as armour. Enter the superwoman jumper, which looks wonderful with the shiny leopard skirt. I'm sure the Burberry babydoll jacket will fit in with your Summer wardrobe, and will be something to look forward to wearing then. Your coat is awesome! xxx

    1. It really is relaxing, isn't it, Ann? And I don't mind having outfits like this to fall back on when I haven't done that kind of planning. Armour is often needed, and this top works perfectly.

Yeah, the jacket was just not right, but it'll be awesome in spring. Thank you!
