Monday W(h)ine and Lavender Hair

I arrived at my office building this morning to discover that all three elevators were out of commission due to flooding in the building's basement (where our bike lock-ups and showers are). It was...a day!
I'm very glad our office is not on the 12th floor! Still, 6 flights of stairs before Second Coffee* is not optimal. So many stairs!
*First Coffee = I'm nice to L; Second Coffee = I'm nice to other people.

  • Cashmere sweater - Talbots, thrifted; purchased here for $29.95
  • Leather skirt - Kay Unger, thrifted; last worn here in January with brocade and brooches
  • Boots - Rockport, thrifted; first worn here with an orange blazer for Hallowe'en Week in October
  • Coat (below) - Forever 21, thrifted; last seen here a couple of weeks ago

So, coincidentally, my whining was done while wearing a few shades of wine, in the sweater and in my tights.
First wearing of this lovely 100% cashmere sweater - it was not too hot, not too chilly (I also have a vintage camisole on under it). It's a good fit - I have trouble finding sweaters that don't make me look overly bulky or boobtastic.

The skirt is a brown metallic leather - I quite like the little ruffled hem.
And yes, I've dyed my hair again. This is a "pastel lavender" and my hair will fade out to a silvery tone, close to what my natural colour is.

So, why dye it at all, then? Well, for one, it's my hair and I'll do what I please with it. I didn't like the yellowy tone that my natural grey had, due to mixed brown throughout and heavily brown in the underside at the back. It's thicker when I colour it, and it takes a curl better.
And frankly, while I liked my natural white, it wasn't dramatic enough for me. I am a Dramatic Person (you probably hadn't noticed, ha ha). I might do it pastel pink next time, but for now, it's lavender again.

Outerwear - I was way too warm in all of this today.
Not complaining about the weather, though! The days of sun seem to be gone, so it's just clouds and rain off and on. The usual for the next few months. Dreary.

  • Fur scarf - Danier, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
I loved wearing these boots again, but found myself wishing I'd worn more interesting tights or boots, one or the other.

Copper bling:
Getting in the first wearings of the copper feather cuff ($14.00) and the ring ($5.00), both purchased at the vintage fair last week.

  • Copper/enamel cuff - Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Feather copper cuff - vintage fair
  • Earrings - vintage expo
  • Ring - vintage fair

  1. We take elevators for granted, don't we? I read just last week an article saying that modern cities wouldn't be possible without elevators.

    1. We really do! I encourage stair use in my office (I have a "punch card" incentive system in place).

  3. That ruffled leather skirt is something else, love it! Your jumper is a perfect fit, it shows off your figure and doesn't look bulky at all - a winner.
I get so tired of the anti-dye brigade lecturing me about dyeing my hair, my hair, my business! Yours looks fantastic - as always. xxx

    1. Isn't it cool, Vix? Not bad for $9.95 many years ago. I love cashmere sweaters but it's hard to find ones that aren't boring and bland.

Oh, I know! I don't have to defend my hair choices, but somehow they make me feel guilty for colouring my hair. Gah! Thank you, my dear!

  4. Lavender hair looks great on you, I'm sure that pastel pink will suit you just fine too.I dye my hair black because my husband likes it that way. My natural coat is pretty close to black, it is a very dark brown. I really like this styling. The floral top is so chic and I do like the skirt and the jacket you paired with it. You look beautiful dear!

    1. Thanks, Ivana! My husband likes long hair, but other than that he doesn't care what I do with it (which is one of the many reasons why I married him!). Thank you so much.

  6. You think this outfit isn't interesting enough (other tights, other boots) but I really like it a lot.
Had to laugh over "*First Coffee = I'm nice to L; Second Coffee = I'm nice to other people." hahaha.

  7. I used to live in a flat on the 12th floor, and let me tell you that's no joke when the elevators are out of order. Even if I was about 20 years younger then ;-) But that's off topic, I know. I'm loving everything about that outfit, though. The colours are just perfect for a dull November day and that cashmere jumper is a total delight! xxx

  8. Cute sweater and equally cute ruffled skirt, so this one is a winner with me. And your hair always looks lovely regardless of the colour. Lavender is soft and alluring I'd say. Oh my, is that too much? Hahaha xxx

  10. My office usually has an issue every week, wether its that the A/C is not working or that its 16 degrees and we freeze. Or water coming in from the ceiling or walls. Never a dull moment.
While I cannot see the metallic on the skirt it does fit fab.

    1. I am the person who has to deal with all of those issues, gah! It's never a dull moment - exactly! I kind of like that; every day is different!

I'll do a close-up of the colour next time. :) Thanks, Lorena!
