Today was a quiet day, for a Monday. I deliberately picked a very comfy outfit in a nice soothing colour to ease myself back into the work-week.
I was delighted to find that this new-to-me silk blouse is the exact same shade of mauve as my platform boots.- Blouse - Eileen Fisher, thrifted; purchased here for $19.95
- Skirt - Talbots, thrifted; last worn here in March for our anniversary trip to Vancouver
- Boots - Prepare Map, Fluevog; last seen here (4th outfit) in October for Thanksgiving at Mom's
- Coat (below) - Hilary Radley, thrifted; last worn here in February
I bought this 100% silk blouse for cheap; it was likely priced low because of stains down the front of it. I've since washed it (it was labeled machine wash!) and most of the stains came out. I sweated in it today so in the wash it goes again.
I love the slight trapeze shape of it, and the extra-long hem. Such a great colour too.
My coworkers really liked all the matchy-matchy.
I wore a fitted tank-style cami under it for smoothing and extra warmth - I wasn't sure how my temperatures would react in pure silk. It was perfect, and modulated my body's weird flashes quite well.
Just a hint of lavender in the mohair-blend fuzzy skirt to match my hair.
It was freezing this morning - was it time for...the Unsafe Ocelot??
It was! I was snuggly warm and then I heated up and sweated. Stoopid weather.
I like the swagger of fabulous bigass coats worn open, so here you go.
Leopard and ocelot pattern-mixing! I couldn't actually wear it like this, due to my purse, my shoe-bag and my bag of weekly lunch supplies I hauled to work this morning, but I do like this look.
- Scarf - V. Fraas, thrifted
- Wool gloves - Parkhurst
The stuff:
Despite the ginormous heel on these boots, they are actually only about a 1" heel - there's a hidden platform in the front. They are wonderfully comfy to wear, although I have to be really gentle with the cut leather laces (and have to keep them from bitey kitties...).
Copper bling:
I liked the warm metal with the shades of mauve in the outfit, and I always enjoy wearing some of my vintage copper collection.
- Necklace - Renoir, vintage 60s
- Cuff/necklace - Renoir, vintage 60s
- Bracelet - Renoir, vintage 60s
I've bought so much copper, from thrift stores, vintage fairs and other places that I've forgotten where I got most of it. It's all second-hand, though.
Only you could find a gorgeous silk blouse that "happens" to match your even-more-gorgeous boots! Such a great outfit!
ReplyDeleteHeh, that's what happens when your closet gets to a certain size, Cynthia! Everything starts to match! Thank you so much.
DeleteHooray for the Unsafe Ocelet - worth sweating to death for, it's utterly fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHow fortuitous that those amazing boots match your new blouse perfectly - thrifting karma after last week's blue and black blip! xxx
I so agree - even when sweating, I feel fabulous in it! I know, I was so excited when I realized that they were a perfect match! Thanks, Vix!
DeleteOooh, copper and mauve - such a good combo. Lise
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lise! I was going to go silver, and then realized how nice the copper looked.
DeleteI love how colourful this outfit is - the shirt is such a good match with the boots! :)

Thank you so much, Marisa! We love our colour, don't we? :)
Deletelove your matching silk blouse and boots. Lovely skirt and coat to match as well. I do love to see colours worn in autumn and winter. Some people just switch to a darker wardrobe, but I feel that in the colder months, I need to see colour more. I do believe colours can influence or mood- and using them to ease a work week is a great idea. You look lovely !
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ivana! I know, I've been trying to wear more colour and not fall into the habit of a dark wardrobe. Thank you!
DeleteOoh, I love the colors/shades in this outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ally! It's fun to play with monochromatic looks. :)
DeleteYESSSS to the purplish perfection of this outfit! I love the boots- soooo nice and also the gorgeous blouse and tights! Dreamy Sheila!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I really loved wearing this entire outfit. I felt awash in purple. Thanks, Kezzie!
DeleteSo fabulous that you found this silk blouse that matches perfectly your boots!, mauve/purple shades can be so tricky!. And I'm loving your Unsafe Ocelot!, you totally rock in this!
ReplyDeletebesos
When your wardrobe is huge, it's actually pretty easy to find matchy things, but I was really happy with finding a match to these boots! Thank you, my dear!
DeleteLovely outfit, Shiela- I like the matching colours.
ReplyDeleteHooray for the unsafe ocelot coat. You nailed my thoughts exactly - the swagger of big coats is fantastic. X
Me too, you can't go wrong with some matchy! Yup, you have to always be ready to swag!
DeleteIf I could wear Fluevogs, those boots would be on my top five list of ones to get. I love the colour and the stompy platform. Excellent colour matching.
ReplyDeleteAw, sorry to hear that they don't work for you - I would really recommend trying on a bunch of different styles, though, as there's often one that will work for your foot! They have lots of styles I'm not able to wear.
