Floral and Plaid Punk

Today is a bit of "clothing as armour" in my outfit. I had a really busy day, and needed a lot of colour to lift me up.
You can see that I'm rushing to beat the timer - look at my earrings shaking!

Blue and red and plaid and black and floral and embroidery, oh my!

  • Jacket - Frank Lyman; last seen here (4th outfit) in March for a weekend shopping trip
  • Blouse - Spense, consignment; last worn here in May with my Alexander McQueen trousers
  • Skirt - Liz Claiborne, thrifted; purchased here for $17.99
  • Shoes - Truths Pilgrim, Fluevog; last worn here in October with rainbow houndstooth

I assembled the other shelving unit this morning - cutting two of my fingers badly in the process. I bled a bit, and then sucked it up. No stitches required, just a couple of bandaids and a bit of whining.
It was sweaty work, so I alternated between jacket off and jacket on.

This blouse is one of a bunch that I have for layering under jackets. I love the bright blue and the ruffled front.
The plaid skirt has a line of this bright cobalt blue in it. The tight sort of match (close enough).

Jacket on! I fancied that I looked like a punk in my plaid and faux leather.
The jacket is such a fun piece, with all that embroidery on it, and the disco ball studs trimming the collar.

Those snag my hair painfully, so I have to wear my hair up when this jacket is on the menu.
The skirt was amazing to wear - that rear slit was perfect for walking, doing stairs and climbing up and down ladders. A++ (the extra + for the pockets!!).

See? Pockets!
 It's the perfect plaid skirt.

All done up, locked and loaded.
Add some gloves and more plaid and I'm ready to go outside.
I was chilly walking in this - bare arms under fake leather, brrrrr! - but I soon warmed up.

  • Scarf - Roots, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
Love these shoes! I hauled two lamps, two shelving units and two 6' long folding tables down 3 floors in our building (in the elevator). Thank goodness for low heels!

Round bling:
When I wear this much colour and pattern, I keep the bling to a minimum.

And how was your Monday?

That sounds like tiring work. Have a break, you deserve one! X

    1. Thanks so much, Jess! Sometimes my job is more physical than I'd like! It's hard on me (and often my clothes).

  2. Love the punk vibes in this outfit! What a gorgeous red and blue pairing. The tights and the shoes are such a great pairing. The tartan skirt is gorgeous and I love how you paired it with that leather jacket. I have clothing items I need to wear with my hair up too! Just recently my husband bought me a bag whose chain has studs to I need to remember to pull my hair up when I wear it.
    Have a great week ahead!

    1. Thanks very much, Ivana! I'm sure designers never think of these things - how will she manage her hair?? Ha!

  8. There's a definite punk vibe going on in this outfit, Sheila, and it appeals to me greatly. The cobalt blues of your almost matching blouse and tights really offsets that magnificent tartan of your skirt. The shoes are fabulous too, and as for your leather jacket, there really are no words to describe its awesomeness. My Monday was a bit blah, but we're Tuesday night now, and I have only 3 more days to go before the weekend and a week's holiday! xxx

  10. Amazing outfit!! The colors look incredible together and that jacket is super-awesome! Thanks for brightening a gloomy, rainy day. All 3 of my jobs have been really physical. Lots of lifting, bending, and climbing on shelves (when the step stool is somewhere far away...haha!). I've broken my wrist, fell in a pit and bruised my leg all up, cut myself really deep with a dog food can lid and all kinds of stuff. I even got bit by a rabbit who latched onto my wrist and wouldn't let go. I think he was mad 'cause I was trying to stop him from beating up another rabbit. Luckily we had to wear scrubs. I really would have made a mess of my own clothes. When it comes down to it though I'd still rather have a physical job than one where I'd have to sit. I like to sit too, but around the house with the cats. Hope your fingers feel better. Sounds like time to take it easy for awhile and do something fun!

    1. Aw, thanks so much, Cheryene! My job is a good mix of sitting (I'm the front desk for my office), and running around between floors, helping people, making deliveries, and maintaining the kitchens (3 of them). I like that I'm not stuck at my desk 100%. The extra physical stuff can be tough though, I find, especially as I get older. A giant bruise appeared on my arm today!

Your job sounds amazing! And a big YES to sitting around with cats. :)
