Cashmere, Slippers and Gold Chains

Today's outfit had to fit a very specific task at work: assemble a 40 x 72" (102 x 183 cm) swinging whiteboard.
Not something I can do in my "good clothes"! However, I love a challenge, so I threw together a bunch of my favourite things, and they worked great.

  • Cashmere sweater - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) in May for dinner at my brother's
  • Cotton pants - Jean's by Jean Paul Gaultier, vintage 90s, vintage store, Vancouver; last seen here (3rd outfit) for the June Vintage fair
  • Shoes - Forever 21, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here with wallpaper pants in August
  • Wool jacket (below) - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here (3rd outfit) to our July Winesday

I knew I'd have to wear pants (and I ended up sitting on the floor of Reception at one point, tightening up bolts) and it had been far too long since I'd shown off my JPG vintage rave pants.
They totally look like sailor pants, don't they? They're completely sewn with orange thread, and they do up with all of those copper snaps (going to the bathroom is an adventure). Detail pics way down at the bottom here from when I bought them in 2018.

The cashmere sweater is really long and boxy - I call it my cashmere t-shirt - so I tucked it in the front to show off the snaps.
Which does cover up the funky stitching on the pockets and the lacing (yes! proof!) at the back, unfortunately.

The looseness of the top was needed for all the whiteboard wrangling.
I had to get assistance to upend it to make it fit in the elevator when I was done. It was ginormous!

Outerwear: I loved how this looked with the addition of the hot pink wool moto jacket.
PANK! I didn't wear this in the office (too warm), but I draped it over my chair so that it was at least close to my tangerine cashmere.

Done up for my walk to work in the much chillier morning.
This jacket is one of my favourite purchases of the year so far. I'm planning on keeping it out as a bright spot in fall/early spring.

The stuff:
Add these dressy slippers to the "favourite" list too! They are shockingly nice quality for Forever 21. I really wanted to wear them one more time before they're packed away - despite my love, they are really not wet/cold weather shoes.

Gold bling:
Classin' up the joint with my vintage 80s Givenchy necklace. Must wear all the gold chains! The chains on the vamp of the slippers were my inspiration for the rest of the accessories, of course.

  • Necklace - Givenchy, vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Bracelet - thrifted

Last night, I finished up another Zentangle tile, this one for my co-worker Sam, whose last day was today.
He was really touched and gave me a big hug. Aw!

  1. I love the pink and orange together, it's like that beautiful maxi skirt you have that I admire! I really need to give the combo a try. I did do a subtle take with peach accessories (bag and bracelets) with a blush necklace, but I need to try be bolder about it! I feel bad for donating a pair of bright orange jeans a while back, they would have been perfect. They didn't fit post baby though so I just donated them rather than upset myself with them, ha!

    1. It is! And my "Firecracker" dress too! I love this bright combo, but I appreciate a more pastel version of it too. Aw, if those jeans didn't make you feel good about yourself, you're right to turf them. You'll find another pair!

  3. What a magnificent pair of trousers. I love this type of trousers, and I've been looking for a similar pair myself. The perfect outfit for the task at hand! I'm also loving the orange and pink (sorry, PANK) together. And that Zentangle tile you made for your colleague is gorgeous, no wonder he gave you a big hug! xxx

    1. They really are - and the cotton is thick duck cloth and very soft, yet they hold the "bell" shape well (I'm sure they have been washed a lot too). Thanks so much, Ann!

  5. Your Zentangle is amazing! www.fatdormouse.wordpress.com does these too- I love them! She made me two which I have on my hall wall!
Your outfit (without the coat) is incredibly similar to one I wore when we went out for dinner with my sister in Kent recently- my Sailor jeans and a short-sleeved orange sweater! I used a brown leather jacket though! The copper snaps are genius!!x

Ha! I thought about wearing my brown jacket too, but went with the pink to match my shoes.
