Big Boss Lady Pants

Back to work today...200+ emails to get through, and a big corporate walking event (that I co-organized), but I cruised through it all with a serene "I just got back from vacation" smile.
It helped that I had my Big Boss Lady Pants on. Oh yeah.

  • Jacket - Isaac Mizrahi, thrifted; purchased here for $22.95
  • Sleeveless sweater - Gap, thrifted; last worn here in June under a key bomber
  • Trousers - H&M, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in June with a pajama jacket
  • Shoes - Effortless Bebe, Fluevog; last worn here in August with a double wrap

I built the outfit around this wildly-patterned blazer. I wore it done up a few times like this, and was all, "You talkin' to me?"
These pants make me feel all bossy and sassy, and so does the jacket! I am the Big Boss Lady!

The pinks are not an exact match, but I loved how the jacket and shiny pink satin trousers went together.
Although I've read that creamy pastels are "in" for fall/winter, I won't be keeping either of these items out in my wardrobe. I prefer brights like this in spring/summer.

I'll continue to enjoy my summer colours for another couple of weeks.
My colleagues were happy to see me - it's nice to be missed when you go on vacation.

I slouched around like this and regaled them with our adventures.
In between getting caught up on all my work, of course!

The stuff:
After over a week with non-heels, these shoes were great to get my feet retrained for "real" shoes. I love the rich metallic pink of the leather.

Round bling:
Just a few odds and ends.

  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Dragon bangle - Lazy Susan's
  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Silver earrings/necklace - M&M, consignment, Vancouver
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

As I was headed out the door this morning, I spotted a very sullen face.
"Just leave. I don't care."

Aw! I gave him one more cuddle before I left.

My friends, I shall be back on Sunday with my weekend adventures. Until then, rock on!

  5. I adore the jacket and would wear it in winter as well. The trousers are fantastic but Indeed I wouldn't wear those in winter. The shoes made me realize I still have never been to the Fluevog store in Amsterdam. Bad girl. Have to correct that as I wouldn't mind these babies. Only one remark totally from my perspective and only mine: I (emphasize here) wouldn't have worn trousers and jacket together. Although they match I feel that they are both unique items battling with each other for attention. I think they both deserve the stage to themselves. But hey, I am rather conservative haha.

    1. It's an interesting piece, for sure. I am waffling on the trousers, but we'll see how the winter collection shapes up first. You must go to see your Fluevog store, especially once you see my upcoming post!

No worries, m'dear - my style is a little over-the-top and not to everyone's taste. :) I've worn the pants on their own a few times, so this is just trying something new.

200 emails - ye gods! the downside of a holiday! Love your outfit, that jacket is stupendous and the trousers and shoes are fab. I hate to disagree with a couple of your commenters but I LOVE both together - more is more to us minimalists, isn't it?
Hope you're having a fabulous weekend. xxx

  9. Clever you, going back to work when it's almost the weekend ;-) And what a magnificent outfit to start the (shoprt!) working week with. Like Vix, I disagree with Greetje and Nancy, as I too think the trousers and jacket are a fabulous combination! I'm hearing you on the emails, as I too had quite a catch-up to do this week. It's a good thing it's already the weekend, isn't it? xxx

  11. Hey Boss Lady! That jacket is such a flattering cut - it looks great on you. I would wear it in the winter because it's still been too warm here to wear more than one layer inside. Give Vizzini a head skritch from me.
