Peacock, Pink and Brocade

One more day and we have a long weekend! It's BC Day long weekend for us, which means that we get Monday off. No actual holiday to be celebrated or anything, just a stat holiday.
I'll take it! Today, I broke out my new brocade Fluevogs for their first spin.

  • Silk top - White House Black Market, consignment; last worn here with plaid trousers in May
  • Skirt - Evan Davies, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in June 2018 with whites
  • Shoes - Tudor Prysten, Fluevog; purchased here for $119.00
  • Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here in July

Of course, I had to build the outfit around the shoes, let them shine, but it's not like I'm going to wear beige or anything! This peacock blue/green blouse is a stretch silk (washable!). I love the colour.
And I've had the skirt for over 5 years - it's vintage leather.

Although I only wear it once a year, it's a classic.
A hot pink leather high-waisted pencil skirt is a wardrobe staple.

At least for me, it is!
Can you believe it's August and I'm wearing a coat?
No, me neither. It's warm out, but it still doesn't really feel very summery. Here's hoping we get some warmth for the long weekend!

The stuff:
These shoes were lovely - a little stiff in the heel, but I can see them loosening up nicely. They had many fans, at both jobs.

Gold bling:
It's all round. I like round shapes.

  • Belt - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Bracelet - Butler Fifth Avenue Collection, consignment
  • Earrings - vintage fair
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Tiger brooch - consignment

I pinned this guy over one shoulder, and then pinned my shirt to my bra strap so it wouldn't pull on the silk.
"I'm a scary tiger, rar!"
You're really not.

My friends, I will be back on Monday with tales of adventure and a Bigass Wrap-up. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! Thank you so much for stopping by.

  1. Very nice outfit. I agree with you about a good leather pencil skirt in a bright colour. Never to be thrown out.
The brooch is a very nice addition and of course the focus is on these awesome shoes.
    Have a lovely weekend.

    2. I have two leather pencil skirts, the orange one and a black one. There is something not right about the black one, cannot put my finger on it.

    3. Time to start searching for a new black leather skirt! I have had many in my closet over the years. It's an ongoing quest for the Perfect Black Leather Skirt.

  3. Oh yes, there is that beautiful brooche again! I love it so much! I told you about that time I saw it on the TV right. At antique road show or something like that. Everytime I'm in the UK in a antique shop, I'm on the hunt for it! I know one day I'll find it! Enjoy your weekend!

  5. Sitting on the bus and catching up on my blog reading this morning, I couldn't have been happier when I saw your post pop up. What an absolutely stunning outfit, Sheila. Combining that fabulous peacock blue top, the hot pink leather skirt and your amazing new Fluevogs was a stroke of genius. And then there's all your lovely round bling and the non-scary tiger! You made me start the day with a smile, Sheila! Have a fabulous weekend! xxx

    1. Aw, thanks so much for the sweet comment, Ann! Lots of colour always makes me feel good, and I had to give my new shoes a worthy outfit! Glad to give you a smile, and wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear!

  6. OMG what an amazing outfit. Everything is gorgeous individually and together the whole really is greater than the sum of the parts. I especially love/covet the shoes, the skirt - ok, all of it!!! Love all your combos and this has to be my fav yet.

I missed seeing Vizzini pics today. I have a kitty (Siriuis Black Cat) who looks a lot like Vizzini except his paws and chin are black. Sirius thinks he is a pitbull (like his dog).

    Love from Austin, TX

    1. Aw, thank you, Dena! That is so sweet of you. :)

I know, Mr. Vizzini wasn't into having his pic taken last night and was hiding this morning - what a diva! Aw, your Sirius Black (great name) sounds beautiful! Vizzini thinks he is a human.

I promise Vizz pics in the weekend wrap-up!

I love how you’ve styled the tiger brooch. I initially thought it was part of the shirt. X

  10. All weekend I asked Canadians why they have today off and nobody knew. They just said it's a "civic holiday."

    1. Oops... meant to type "civil holiday."

    2. Yup, just a civic holiday, no reason. Looks like it might have been a political gambit at some point, which makes sense.
