Green Genie and the Vizz-Meister

First day back after a week off...ugh. I spent 5 hours getting through my emails, then the rest of the day catching up on all piles of paper and mail that accumulated. It wasn't too bad, though - I'm basically all caught up.
Knowing that I was going to have a busy day, I wore comfy clothes and easy shoes, all in a green colour palette.

  • Blouse - Miu Miu, thrifted; last seen here in April with a picnic plaid
  • Trousers - Lady Dutch, thrifted; last worn here in April with pigtails and a funky blouse
  • Shoes - Eject; last seen here with this blouse in April (I know a winning combo!)
  • Coat (below) - Avoca; last worn here last week

We woke up to fog this morning - in July! It's practically unheard of!
This is my view when taking the stair picture - there's supposed to be a castle there amongst the trees!

I built the outfit around my accessories, but I love the combination of this lovely greeny-yellow top and the olive green of the trousers.
I'm wearing an olive cami under the silk blouse, as it's close to see-through.

I love these "genie" pants - they are super-slouchy and comfy.
I like how the elasticated cuffs hit the top of these shoes.

How many emails will I have? Answer: 170.
That's not too bad. No one burned down the office, so let's call it a win.

Outerwear - rain predicted and it was actually a bit chilly, although I sweated on the way home.
Crazy weather! Make up your mind!

The stuff:
These are easily one of my favourite pairs of shoes. So funky.

Tortoiseshell bling:
I love it when I have a match! The snake hair slide was clipped to my blouse's neckline as a brooch.

  • Bracelet - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Snake pin - Red Sky
  • Earrings - Hamilton purchase - first wearing, purchased here for $19.00
  • Ring - POLY, Art Gallery of Hamilton gift shop - first wearing, purchased here for $14.40

Vizzini's been very affectionate with me. I think he thought I wasn't coming home.
"I was merely concerned for the Man's well-being - he missed you a lot."

He sat on my lap while I was on the computer yesterday.
"It's just a warm lap, nothing special."

I was practically vibrating from the deep purring!
"I might have missed you a little."

Silly Vizz-Meister, I know you did.

  2. I hate when I come back from holidays, it takes me days to catch up. The weather is not summery at all and the humidity makes it harder to figure out my clothes choice for the day. My boss has the AC jacked up and I've been wearing suit jackets & sweaters. On a brighter note I found some beautiful rose suede flats that fit like a dream and are comfortable. Hope you had a great time in Ontario! Love your outfit!

I love the picture behind your head; I think it might be you and Vizzini - is it?

    1. Thanks, Vronni - the top is really amazing construction, very good quality Miu Miu.

It's older than that, actually. It was done for me by Megan Mae, and that's my kitty Inigo.

      Oh, heck yes! Weekend!

  8. Having just returned to work after more than two weeks, I'm obviously sympathizing with you, Sheila. And I too had lots and lots of emails to get through (over 700!) which took me most of the day. Wearing clothes which are comfortable plus make us feel great is the trick! Love the greeny-yellow top and shoes (those shoes!) and tortoiseshell bling, which I'm coveting. Well, of course Vizzini has missed you, even if he'll never admit it. The deep purring says it all. Phoebe's purring kept us awake the first night we were back! xxx

    1. Oh, gosh, 700 emails? I'm going to stop complaining right now, Ann! I hope you're settling back into your routine after your lovely holiday. Thanks so much for your kind words about the outfit.

Vizzini is quite clingy at times. We know he loves us. Oh, Phoebe, what a purry girl!

    1. Thank you, Monica! It's a bit of a nightmare, but I won't let myself get stressed about it. 170 is better than the 4,000 I had a few years ago when I took off for 3 weeks!

Thank you so much! I know, why should a raincoat be boring?

  15. It's always hard returning to work after having a week or more away. I had 180 emails when I got back after my visit to Vancouver! I very much love the outfit, especially the contrast of the yellow-green top and shoes with the army green of the pants.

Vizzini definitely missed his "woman". Sylvester was super cuddly when I returned from vacation.

    1. I get about 50-100 emails a day, typically, depending on the day/season (summer is quieter). I used to get a lot more - when I went to Italy and took 3 weeks off work, I had over 1500 emails.

      Thanks, hon!
