Mad Mix and New Boots

Although it's been a short week for me, it's felt very long. I consoled myself by wearing an old-ish favourite dress, and my new-to-me boots.
I've been wearing beige fishnet nylons as my transition to bare legs - it's not quite warm enough yet!

  • Dress - I'M by Isola Marras, Florence, Italy; last seen here (3rd outfit) in September 2017 when we got home from vacation
  • Boots -  Vog Together, Fluevog; purchased here for $82.50
  • Coat (below) - BCBG Max Azria, thrifted; last seen here last week

Look at the gorgeous view I had of the castle this morning!
The tourists will be flocking there soon, I expect. There are usually tour buses parked all along one of the streets near us in high season (the buses are not allowed all the way to the castle as it's in a residential neighbourhood).

When I don't feel like putting together an outfit, I usually default to a dress, but I actually just really wanted to wear this dress. It was pulled out and put into my "wear soon" area of my closet, with some of my loosey-goosey semi-planned outfits.
I love all the mad patterns in this. It's by an Italian designer, Antonio Marras, from his spring/summer 2013 collection, and I bought it in Florence, Italy in 2014 (here, enjoy more of my vacation pictures!). It's featured in this Vimeo link here. Here's a screen cap of my dress - it's worn over shorts!
Ooh, what a good idea - I should wear this over a skirt or pants! I think I may need turquoise cowboy boots too...better put 'em on the wishlist!

I like how my dress' patterns/fabric are exactly like the dress in the show - it's a very deliberate choice by the designer.
The unexpected pouf of the back always catches people by surprise - it's a very unusual piece. I had many comments on it from coworkers and my WW group.

Outerwear - yup, no gloves needed. I see sun out there!
This coat was just the right weight for the weather.

The stuff:
First wearing of these gorgeous espresso-brown leather Fluevog boots - oh, wow, they were FABULOUS to wear. Comfiness all over the place. Easy to walk in.

Green bling:
It's hard to see this bling in my outfit with the patterns of the dress, but it was very noticeable in person - I had comments on every single piece I had on!

  • Necklace - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Glass bracelet - thrifted
  • Jade/bronze ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Turquoise/silver ring - local
  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment, Vancouver

  1. It made me smile when I read you got compliments on every piece you wore - I think that's because you know how to style things and make them shine! I miss dresses and ankle boot weather, I will need to get my boots out and ready so I can wear them as soon as it properly cools off here!

  3. What a perfect little dress, Sheila. I love the instant pattern mixing and the unusual, quite unexpected back. The dress was asking, no begging!, to be worn with those new-to-you Fluevog boots. Turquoise cowboy boots would be awesome! Note to self: buy beige fishnet nylons! xxx

  5. You are looking beautiful Sheila ! Oh and I love that you were able to find that dress and find another way of styling it. For me its one of the perks of the internet, the ability to see how other people wear the same item and be inspired.

  7. I love the fact that you wear statement necklaces so often. I have quite a collection from a few years ago when we saw them on every fashion blogger. I've been a bit hesitant to wear mine but am going to start now. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Who cares when they're trendy? The only good thing about that is that you can find lots of cool ones. Go for it!

  8. You sure don't wait to integrate new purchases into your outfits! I love these boots. If they were bigger, we might have had a fight over them. :-)

    1. Nope, I really don't! Better to know sooner rather than later if they are bad pieces for me. I would never have fought you!

  9. Another post full of such great style. We love watching what you piece together and I see the influence daily from your blog in Kailani's own fashionista daily styling. She will often reference something from a post or tell me to show Sheila her outfit. She is in awe of your pieces and especially the firecracker dress - she asked if you could save it for when she grows up (HAHA)

    1. Thank you so much, Trisha! Aw, that is the best, knowing that Kailani's reading along and taking the inspiration she wants. AW! Ha, yes, if I get tired of that dress (HA) when she's old enough to wear it, I might consider loaning it to her!

I thought I had replied to this once, so if this is a duplicate please ignore. I was having some trouble with my Google account but I just fixed it.
I also adore your fabulous printed dress. I also default to dresses when pressed to come up with an outfit in a hurry.
