I really did not want to be at work today - I was sorely tempted to bounce around on the bed and wake up L so that he could feel bad for me.
I wasn't in a colourful mood today, so I did all neutrals, including metallic copper in this new-to-me skirt.- Jacket - Helmut Lang, thrifted; last seen here in September 2017 with my circus skirt
- Sleeveless sweater - Ellen Tracy, thrifted; last worn here in February under another Helmut jacket
- Skirt - LAMB, consignment, Vancouver; purchased here for $15.00
- Shoes - Elegant Conversations Kendra, Fluevog; last worn here in November 2017 with "nope" taupe
- Coat (below) - BCBG Max Azria, thrifted; last seen here in March for our jaunt to Vancouver
This draped skirt was tricky to style. It sits quite low on the hips (I safety-pinned it tighter, because I am Klassy like that!).
But it's quite tight in the leg area, and the slit at the front (mostly covered here by that curtain swag) is pulling apart.
The fabric is very delicate and it's showing signs of separating on one seam. Jeez, I'm annoyed that this isn't better made!
I consoled myself with the colour, the aforementioned curtain swag on the front that hides the slit, and this lovely Helmut Lang leather mix jacket. Drape, baby, it's the next new thing.
Outerwear - it's still darned chilly out there!
Didn't need a scarf, and I wanted warmer gloves than these unlined thin ones by the end of the day.
- Gloves - vintage, thrifted
The stuff:
I assembled three giant recycling stations in these today. My clothes have to work, just like me!
Copper bling:
I always keep a few copper pieces out for warm weather, to wear with my turquoise pieces. I was happy to be reacquainted with this lovely ring.
- Necklace - consignment
- Earrings - vintage fair
- Ring - local
Did you get today off work? I'm so jealous!
Too bad that skirt isn’t made better, because the color is fantastic and the design is strong. I hope you get at least a few more wears out of it. The pairing with that gorgeous Helmut Lang jacket works beautifully.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to work today. No fun.
I know, I'm quite disappointed in it, but I do plan to keep wearing it. Thank you, I appreciate the sympathy!
DeleteI love your metallic copper skirt, Sheila! It looks great on you and I love how you've styled it with your turquoise and copper bling. It's a shame the fabric of the skirt is pulling apart though, because it looks fab on you! ;) XXX
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sasha! I love the style too.
DeleteOh it's a shame that skirt is so annoying to wear as it does look beautiful! Hopefully you can give it another go on a better day - I always feel more critical of my outfit on a bad day!
ReplyDeleteI just want to remake the whole thing, arg! Thank you so much, my dear. Yeah, next time will be better.
DeleteThe turquoise pieces, including your glasses, make that outfit sing! I love bronze and warm browns with turquoise. Too bad that the skirt annoyed you--it's an interesting design.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see your closet revamped for spring. I'm about halfway through the transition here. It's 40F/5C out there right now and sleeting. Ready for spring ...
Velma
Thank you! Turquoise is such a great accent colour. Yikes, sending spring your way!
DeleteI am so sorry that you had to work on day that you did not feel like it. But you went to work in such chic style. I love your new skirt and a black jacket is the perfect complement.
ReplyDeleteI love the turquoise pendant and the glasses that are in that very same shade. That off-white coat is a stunner, too !!
❤️❤️❤️

Woe is me, ha ha, such first world problems. Thank you, Elle!
DeleteShame about the skirt!!! I love all the pulls and gathers of it! And the metallic copper color!
ReplyDeleteI love the drapery too! It's so cool.
DeleteWhat a shame about the skirt, as the colour is absolutely fantastic. Hopefully you can get a few more wears out of it. Love the turquoise ring and pendant! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's so frustrating, Ann. Thank you - I hope I'll love it more next time.
DeleteWhat a shame that fabulous skirt has issues as it looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe my eyes, I have that turquoise and copper pendant along with the matching cuff - Mum's childhood sweetheart bought it back for her when he went off travelling in the mid-1960s - not sure what year but she married my Dad and had me in 1966. What are the chances? I'll wear it in my next post.
That's rubbish that you don't get Easter Monday off work. xxx
I still love it - it's got a good home with me for now.
DeleteNO WAY! That is so wild! I can't wait to see it on you! I love being able to date it now! I know, total rubbish. I demand a holiday!
Oh dang, what a shame about that gorgeous skirt. The drape is indeed the big shape for the season ahead, so you clearly have your finger on the fashion pulse my dear!
ReplyDeleteAnna x
Is it actually in style? I can't keep track of these things! Ha!
DeleteI have fallen in love with that skirt but I read its not an easy wear... maybe it's made just to stand in it ?
ReplyDeleteYup, just for standing around looking badass! I am going to style it very differently next time.
DeleteI found a black skirt that was almost exactly the same shape at a consignment store last year, and the front slit was coming apart too (hidden by the "swag" on the front). I liked the shape of it but ended up donating it as it was too hard to wear. Yours is a great colour though.
ReplyDeleteI booked Monday and Tuesday off as vacation time, so although I would not normally have Monday off, I did this year.
It is such a great colour, but I hate that it's so shoddily made. Sigh. Good for you for taking Monday +1!
