Two-Fer: The Beaches and Monday Jumpsuit, and Cat Pictures

Woo, I need another weekend, stat! I'm pretty tired from going to see The Beaches last night! After a fairly quiet day, L and I had to drag ourselves out of the house and be ready to get loud - it's a rock and roll show!
I always get my inner Rock Goddess on for shows. Studs, leather, ink, badassery. Ready to rock!

  • Dress worn as a top - Helmut Lang, thrifted; purchased here for $12.50
  • Jeans - Levi Strauss, thrifted; last worn here for Ally's visit
  • Boots - Ash; last seen here (2nd outfit) in November 2017 with red plaid
  • Jacket (below) - Dolce & Gabbana, thrifted; last worn here in March (I did get rid of that skirt)

I'm still going through the new-to-me and not yet worn items in my closet - only a few left! - and building outfits around them. This dress is a challenge.
It's tight and it's pretty skimpy - that would be a short dress! What to do? Jeans!

The thin fabric was great when the balcony started getting warm later in the show.
The venue was a nightclub, so I'm never going to wear my best shoes - ugh, sticky floors.

I wore my baby blue denim studded jacket as my outerwear - it was really warm early in the evening, and not too chilly for the walk home at 10:30pm.
L and I walked to town early and had Thai food before the show, then met up with Casey, Nick and Karen. It was a fabulous show - The Beaches are doing a tour across Canada, heading east, and if you like the Gogos with a punk edge, go see them!

The stuff:
I love these boots. They are the most kickass boots I've ever owned.

Silver bling:
I hate dealing with a large purse in a nightclub.

  • Leather purse - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Rigid steel cuff - thrifted
  • Soft silver cuff - Fossil, gift from L
  • Earrings - Fossil, thrifted
  • Crystal/silver ring - Soul Flower
  • Shield steel ring - Nine West

Today, I knew I had two ginormous rolling whiteboards to assemble, so I planned an easy, comfy outfit. Jumpsuit!
It was perfect for a Monday. Whiteboards, I am the boss of you.

  • Lace top - Express, thrifted; last worn here in March under a velvet dress
  • Jumpsuit - Gina Tricot, thrifted; last seen here in October 2017 with burgundies
  • Shoes - Nanette Lepore, thrifted; purchased here for $9.95
  • Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here in August 2017 (I would repeat that whole outfit)

I think this is my least favourite look of my 3 wearings so far of this jumpsuit.
I was tired last night from the show, and didn't make a ton of effort. Top, jumpsuit, shoes. Done.

The gold belt is elastic-backed, which meant nothing too tight.
It felt like jammies! That is always a bonus.

Outerwear - get used to this jacket, I'll probably wear it a lot this year (as I have over the last two years).
Faking it till I'm making it.

How I really feel...
 Ready for a nap!

The stuff:
First wearing of these lovely lace espadrilles that I picked up brand new for $9.95 several months ago (shopping out of season!). They were lovely to wear - a few tight areas that loosened up over the day. They're good for a day when I don't have to lace them off and on (so, not for shopping!).

Gold bling:
Shiny stuff! Pay no attention to the tired-looking woman!

  • Belt - thrifted, Powell River
  • Solid cuff - thrifted
  • Link bracelet - Lia Sophia, thrifted
  • Earrings - vintage fair

On Sunday when I was on the computer, Vizzini was being very demanding.
"You don't need to reach the keyboard, Woman."
Look at that face! I have to give him some attention.
"Oh yeah, right there, that's the spot."
He's a semi-affectionate cat, so my heart always melts when he does something really lovey.
"Just rub my ears forever..."
Aw!

  1. I love the rock chick outfit! That's a fab gig going outfit - complete with bad ass boots that means you can get in the mosh pit without loosing a toenail! The jumpsuit is utterly fabulous as is that insane coat!
I really need to get Stephen Squirrel to stay still for a photo, he and Vizzini are brothers, I swear it. Beautiful to look at and totally mad! xxx

    1. Thank you so much, Vix! I'm not much of a mosher anymore, but yeah, don't get too close to me!

Must be a thing about tuxedo cats - they are full of personality!

  2. Love the dress over jeans! I think this winter will be the winter I give that look a try! :)

I love how stylish your jumpsuit outfit is too - for an easy outfit it definitely looks a lot more pulled together than my lazy outfits, haha!

Thanks so much for your comment on my blog about the cream blazer and grey together too - I tried the combo again today and I really didn't like it, I didn't wear the bright necklace I probably should have to add some colour, I definitely won't try the combo again! Never occured to me it was because they were warm neutrals and cool neutrals together though! :)

    1. Do it! I actually didn't really like the jumpsuit outfit that much - I like to see how people react without my own commentary (too much). Aw, glad that comment worked for you!

  3. Your rock chick outfit is perfect - those boots!!! Love the jumpsuit with that fabulous gold belt and wow, how gorgeous is that coat! I had to chuckle when I read about Vizzini being semi-affectionate, I'm guessing that makes Phoebe quarter-affectionate. Only when she wants to cuddle, and never for very long! Had to think of you today as I walked by Dries Van Noten's Antwerp shop, I even took a photo especially for you! xxx

    1. Thank you! The coat is a real treasure - it goes with everything. Vizzini is also a "on my own terms" cuddler, which makes it so nice when he IS affectionate. Oh, how cool! I would love to visit one of his stores!

  5. Darling cat!!!! What a sweetie!
I love both your outfits. Urgh, sticky floors- hate those!!
The jumpsuit looks really cool. I have not worn one because (whispers) I worry about going to the toilet in a public place in one!!! I like the blossom effect of that coat!

  6. Your rock chick outfit is fabulous, and those badass boots are the perfect shoes for a concert (sticky floors, ugh!) I think this dress looks fab over a pair of jeans!
Love your jumpsuit and lovely coat, and your attitude (the picture of you with your hands in your pockets is really cool) and those lace espadrilles look so comfy!!

  7. Look at that handsome kitty face! I would want to kiss his nose, but he may not be a fan of nose kisses like Sylvester.

Perfect outfit for a rock concert. I find myself layering short knit dresses like that over pants and longer skirts.

    1. He suffers nose kisses (and most kisses, actually). Thanks! I felt like I fit in.
