I am pretty tough when it comes to weeding out my wardrobe. If an item doesn't work, it's usually gone quickly. Like this dress that I hacked in half to turn it into a blouse.
- Blouse (was a dress) - Supertrash, thrifted; purchased here for $5.00
- Skirt - Ann Taylor, thrifted; purchased here for $29.95
- Shoes - Big Presence Earhart, Fluevog; last worn here in February with a dress that's not a dress
- Coat (below) - BCBG Max Azria, thrifted; last seen here last week
I love the pattern, and that is about it. It didn't breathe and the elbow cuffs were in a weird spot and varied between being too tight and way too loose. But the worse offender was the neckline. It was all over the place! Backward, forward, this shoulder, that shoulder. Bah!
The skirt, on the other hand, was fabulous. SO soft - like buttah! - and just quality all over the place.
Outerwear - now, we're having those kind of days when you need all this stuff in the morning...
- Pashmina scarf - Portolano, thrifted
- Ruffled leather gloves - consignment
here, enjoy my travel pictures. Don't feel the pigeons!).
- Murano glass necklace/earrings - gift from L, Venice, Italy
- Amber ring - c. 1996
- Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
I love the colours and textures in this outfit, Sheila! The shoes match perfectly with your blouse, but I agree that there is no room for insubordination from our clothes! ;) Your pastel bling is beautiful and the skirt is fab! XXXReplyDelete
Thank you, Sasha! We can't tolerate this kind of disobedience in our clothes, lol.Delete
sorry that the blouse was so uncomfortable to wear, as it matches so fabulously your shoes, and what a lovely pair of shoes they are!, those colors are a feast to my eyes! lilac and mango! fabulousness!!ReplyDelete
And so amazing set of bijouterie, lovely glass beads in fab colors!. And happy memories from Venice!, I've laughed a lot reading your old post!
I know, very disappointing. I love the shoes too! Ha, glad you enjoyed the post. A blast from the past.Delete
What a shame that blouse wouldn't play nice. No room in the wardrobe for badly behaved clothing even if it looks ace!ReplyDelete
Those shoes! What a mad but fab colour combo! xxx
It's positively shameful that it was so bad. Thanks, Vix!Delete
LOL Insubordination!!! U run a tight (wardrobe) ship!!! Love it!ReplyDelete
I do - you know it! Thanks, Becky!Delete
Well, you gave it a try and even wore those fab shoes !ReplyDelete
I think I am following your steps my friend, I am getting pickier when it comes to what I want to keep in the closet.
Yup, I tried. Being picky feels good! We only deserve the best, right, m'dear?Delete
Such a pretty print but I'm with you - if it doesn't behave, then off it goes to the Great Thrift Shop Beyond.ReplyDelete
Those shoes! The bomb.
Loving your hair color now.
Thanks, Tami! I totally agree. Thank you - I'm colouring it again soon!Delete
Shame about the blouse, as it's a fabulous print, but I agree that insubordination in one's clothes is unacceptable. The skirt is gorgeous, though and those shoes are absolutely fabulous! xxxReplyDelete
Totally unacceptable! Thank you, Ann!Delete
A new category: clothing behaving badly! And Sheila will have none of it! Begone wayward blouse!!ReplyDelete
Ha, that is such a great idea, Gerrilyn! I'll probably forget, though. Blouse, begone!Delete
I hate pieces that photograph beautifully but are a pain to wear, I always find it harder to let go of them, as they look so good when you review them! It's a shame this didn't work for you, but good you gave it a go!ReplyDelete
Same! And conversely, pieces that feel great on, but photograph poorly. What's up with that? Yeah, had to let it go - I knew it was a risk when I bought it, but that's my choice, and I'll live with it.Delete
