Corporately Purple

Today was the kind of day that makes me want to bonk my head on my desk. So many "GAH!" things happened today.
My coworkers look at me strangely when I start making inarticulate gurgling noises. Good thing I looked like a good corporate worker-bee today. Except for the hair. Not quite sure what happened there.

  • Blazer - Talbots, thrifted; first worn here in October, very lavender-y
  • Shirt - Tommy Hilfiger, thrifted; last seen here in July with a fab skirt
  • Skirt - Mexx, consignment; purchased here on the weekend for $20.98
  • Shoes - Poetic Licence; last worn here in January with a floofy shirt and a strapless dress
  • Coat (below) - Parkhurst, thrifted

We had some VIPs at work, so I dressed a little more conservatively. Well, except for that purple hair. Can't do much about that!

I loved this skirt - so pretty! It had great movement as well.
And my favourite shoes, which I don't wear very much. They are starting to show their age - I've had them since December 2008 (here), which for me is a long time!

Outerwear:
Same as yesterday, not being very creative! I keep waiting for us to get a cold snap, but it's still quite mild. I have all these wintery coats I want to wear, but I won't rush chilly weather just yet.

The stuff:
Such awesome shoes. I hope they never fall apart, and I never get tired of them. Not any chance of that right now!

Sparkly bling:
A mismatched set, but they go together.

  • Earrings - late 90s
  • Pin - The Bay
  • Bracelet - Myka

Vizzini was watching me get ready to leave this morning.
"I can't believe you can't spare one more cuddle."
Nope, already running late. Go play with the mousies on your post, you silly cat.

  3. *smiling* I find it very amusing that your description of this outfit as conservative (and, for you, it is) reveals how innovative and interesting your style is. For non-Sheilas, this would be an edgy, adventurous effort.

    1. Hee hee, yes, I certainly couldn't pull this off in some corporate environments - gotta love IT for that. That is such a nice compliment - thank you, Ally!

  4. You look like a modern day '50s teeny-bobber with the swooshy skirt and modern interpretation of saddle shoes. I love your outfit.

  5. This is a fab look Sheila. The skirt looks lovely, but yes, the shoes are still the star of the show. They've done well to stay in favour with you for so long. I have to agree with Shybiker on the use of the word conservative - yes worth a chuckle x

    1. I don't think shoes get much cooler than these. :) Ha, I know. Just call me normal.

  6. I love your worker-bee outfit, Sheila, it toes the line (somewhat, for you) but the colour palette and pattern play AND THEM HEELS still speak volumes of how unique you are. I heart.

On the blog today, I'm talking about the hush-hush topic of self-love. Yup. Me, myself and I. I'd love for you to come over and weigh in, and share your thoughts. It's interesting to note that despite it being the 21st century, and we're preaching confidence and empowerment, the subject still remains somewhat risque.

  9. Please don't rush the winter weather! I just moved to Victoria from Toronto and am enjoying the fact that I got to pack all my winter coats away. :)
