Well, here we are...living in "interesting times." Today was a day for laying low.
Monochrome it is. Olive jacket, pants and shoes!- Jacket - Precis Petite (part of a 2-piece suit); last seen here in October 2015 with the matching skirt
- Sweater (underneath) - Hawick of Scotland, consignment; last worn here in June with sheer dots
- Trousers - Jones New York, thrifted; purchased here for $17.99
- Shoes - Wonders Ayers, Fluevog; last seen here in October with orange brocade and bark
I wore this suit jacket as both my outerwear and done up like this all day. We've been having a strange warm spell lately. I was sweating by the time I got to work.
First wearing of these new-to-me trousers. My goodness, they are gorgeous quality. The wool is thick, they are lined all the way to the hem and they fit really well.
They are quite long, however, so I will need to have them hemmed about an inch and a half. I discovered this morning that one leg was hemmed and the other was not (hmmm...that's why they looked so unbalanced when I took their initial picture after shopping!), and had to make the call to undo it so that they matched all day.
I also pulled the "klassy" card and wrapped the hems around my ankle and tucked them into my socks for walking to and from work. I have no shame! But I also didn't want to collect a leg-full of leaves and wet dirt.
Without the blazer - I only briefly took off the jacket to air out once I got to the office.
Ready for the weather.
Didn't need the hat (it didn't rain) and ended up taking off these long brown leather gloves (Club Monaco, consignment).
The stuff:
More monochrome in the shoes.
Brassy bling:
I hear delicate jewelry is what the cool kids are back into now. Tough beans, I'm brassy and bold.
- Link bracelet - J. Crew, thrifted
- Chain bracelet - Club Monaco
- Earrings - thrifted
Friday is the Remembrance Day holiday here in Canada, so we have the day off - woo, long weekend! I'm going for dinner with L after WW tomorrow night, so this is it until my bigass weekend post - but my weekend is action-packed and full of good times. See you on Sunday. Stay calm and carry on, my friends. Everything will be okay.
Great jacket! Funny about the partial hem job on the pants.
ReplyDeleteI worked from home yesterday. I needed some mental space to process the election results. Large protest here last night--many, many scared and unhappy people in our lefty college town.
Thanks, velma! There is a lot of processing and worry going on up here north of the border, too. Yikes.
DeleteSuch a nice blazer!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marcia!
DeleteI really like all of those pieces together! Those pants are lovely - although the partial hem is odd! Glad you could unhem them quickly to wear them and they weren't too much of a hassle to wear without being hemmed properly!
ReplyDeleteI had a similar pair of pants a while back (brown, wide legged and thick wool for winter) and I decided I just HAD to wear them without hemming them. Big mistake as I was on my way to a team meeting, running a little late so I got into the room behind everyone else when the stupid hem got caught in my heel and I came flying into the room in front of everyone. Funny now, embarrassing at the time! Especially when they had to fill out a health and safety report as I needed medical attention, and cause of incident was "pants too long!" haha! Bit of an odd story to share but you pants and the hem reminded my of my old pants and hem adventure and a little smile is a good thing after the recent news from the US!
I wonder if one of the hems came undone before their previous owner gave up on them?
DeleteOh no, it's like Danger Pants all over again! Glad you can smile at that now, Mica!
Fabulous outfit and what a lovely jacket. Funnily enough I did olive green on Thursday, too...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend Sheila and give Vizzini a kiss from me! How did he get his name?
Veronica
Great minds, Veronica! Thank you! Vizzini is named after a character in the book/film, "The Princess Bride."
DeleteOlive is a wonderful colour for you and a big favourite of mine too. This was a very classy, understated look, apart from that tucked in vision you created with the legs/socks thing.

Thank you! Yes, try to ignore that vision!
DeleteForget the "Klassy", Sheila! You are absolutely stunning Classy! xx
ReplyDeleteHa, thank you, Elizabeth!
DeleteI took a peak at your skirt suit, lovely. But I love the jacket with these trousers even more. So sophisticated. So showing off your good figure. Laughed over the socks over your legs haha. I have no shame either. That could have been me.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
Thanks, Greetje! Sometimes we just have to tuck our socks in.
