Ah, I feel like I'm back to normal. It felt weird putting on my "regular" make-up after that 30s look on Friday and yesterday's Hallowe'en face.
There were a few jokes at the office today about me being back to my "usual boring stuff" of beige, grey, black wardrobe. Yeah, my coworkers know me pretty well! Colour!
- Velvet blazer - Jacob, thrifted; purchased here for $8.50
- Fruital blouse - no label, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) under a purple suede dress
- Skirt - Club Monaco, thrifted; last worn here in March (one of my favourite outfits)
- Shoes - Poetic Licence; last seen here in August with mint wings
First wearing of this new-to-me velvet blazer - I just adored the deep teal/emerald green of it. I like the skinny sleeves too.
The blouse is my basic fruital one (if flowers are floral, then fruit is...fruital, right?). It has all the colours I like.
This beautiful bronze-y skirt has a strong hint of green in it - I liked how it worked with the blazer and shoes. The stuff:
Fuzzy woolly Kermit shoes! Not the most comfy heels I own (I was in my runners to go to the other office, and left them on for the late afternoon), but darned cute. Cute goes a long way.
Simple bling:
Round things, sparkly things.
- Ear-balls - Dior
- Amber ring - late 90s
- Ring - consignment
Gorgeous play of colours in this outfit. I looked at your other outfit with this skirt, which was stunning, but I really like this outfit too. That blouse pulls it all together. Always inspiring, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Cynthia! I changed a few things at the last minute, and I'm glad I did.
DeleteI love your velvet blazer and that gold skirt is stunning as well. Everything works so perfectly together :) I may have said this before (and I might have even said it last time you wore this same skirt, ha!) but I need to hunt out my skirts like this again. They are somewhere in the "after baby" section of my wardrobe which was half packed up for a move that didn't happen in the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mica! Ha, get those skirts out!! Wear them!
DeleteI just thrifted a teal velvet blazer ($17--you got the better deal!). Mine is a touch bluer than yours, I think. The color is surprisingly versatile--goes with everything. I like your narrow sleeves and higher armholes. Sleek!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the skirt's fiber content? Almost looks like metallic leather. With the teal, you're like Kingman turquoise:

Nice, velma! That is still a rockin' deal for a velvet blazer. I love velvet jackets, and any velvet, period. The skirt is polyester, nylon and "metallic" with an acetate lining (and pockets!). Ack, I did not even know Klingon turquoise existed! Must have!
DeleteKlingon! :-) I meant Kingman turquoise from the famous mine in Arizona. It is usually sky blue or greenish with bronze inclusions. Gorgeous. Not cheap.
DeleteHA! Now that is a major mis-read - I was all excited about it! Dang, why is good stuff so expensive??
DeleteThis is a lovely outfit, Sheila, it made me smile. I adore the green velvet blazer and the shoes are perfect with it. A lovely skirt and a fruital blouse; yes it all works beautifully.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week

Aw, thank you, Veronica, I couldn't ask for a nicer compliment. Happy week to you, my dear!
DeleteFabulous. The skirt I am totally in love with. I bought a gold metallic Burberry skirt that reminds me of yours . Which then takes me to the usual question: why I have not worn it.
ReplyDeleteI love it too - anything by Club Monaco is exceptional quality. Nice - get that Burberry skirt out!
DeleteOoooh metallics and velvet! Yes please. What a gorgeous and happy pairing this is. That jacket is snazzy on you - such a great cut and the skirt is unusual and eye catching. And then the top brings them beautifully together for an utter sartorial love fest!
ReplyDeletePlease can I have those shoes????? So dainty.

Hands off the shoes, woman! ;-P Thank you so much - I love the rich colour and the skirt just makes me happy. Thanks!
DeleteYes, back to your usual "boring" look! Ha! Gorgeous velvet blazer, rich blouse and stunning skirt, so well proportioned! Love each piece, but those shoes-- I am in love.
ReplyDeleteMust have been some good kharma that came your way because they are fabulous and comfy, too!
The metallic in the skirt is just the right amount of pop!

Yes, so boring, hee hee. I've had the shoes for many years - and this brand is known for their unusual shoes. Thank you so much, Elle!
DeleteLove the "boring" outfit ;-) That skirt is amazing! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, I'm so dull. :)
DeleteThe longer I follow your blog, the longer I really admire you Sheila. Every day you bring out another aspect, another look, another fashion statement that is so individual and utterly you. Today, this ordinary midweek day at work, yes we're surrounded by the business clothes that truly are boring and here you are in velvet, dazzling glittery skirt and the sweetest shoes ever. And yet in Sheilaland this is all normal. Wonderful!
