Flame On! Silk Sleeves and Disco Dutch

Another week, and a whole slew of new-to-me clothes to wear! One of my favourite things is putting together new outfits right away.
I had to wear this crazy jacket immediately.

  • Jacket - Celia Chien, vintage 60s, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $26.95
  • Blouse - Elite, vintage early 80s, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $7.15
  • Pants - Banana Republic, thrifted; last worn here a couple of weeks ago with Shoes My Husband Hates
  • Shoes - Prepare High Steady, Fluevog; last seen here in September 2015 with magenta fringe

Ha! I just went to look up the jacket, and I totally forgot to take pictures of  it and include them in my little shopping round-up on the weekend. More pictures of the jacket below. I love it because it has open sleeves with little bridges.

Also, the sleeves are pointy. I had to be careful not to drag them in the sink at work.

I wore the cream new-to-me blouse right away as well (and sweated in it! it's warm out today!).
I loved how the yellow and red texture in the jacket went with the orange-y red (Fiesta!) pants. I look like fire!

Here are pictures of the jacket:
You can see the open-work down the sleeves.

And pointy!
This is raw silk - check out the slubbed texture below:
Yellow and red makes orange. It has a slight iridescence as well due the sheen on the silk threads.

The label inside says it's by Celia Chien Limited of Hong Kong.
There is so much wonderful hand-sewn finishing on this jacket. I bet it had a matching skirt or dress. From my detective work online, this company was created in 1963 and dissolved in 2015.

The stuff:
The infamous "Disco Dutch" shoes!
These shoes are divisive. L hates them - they were featured in the first series of Shoes My Husband Hates here, and I wouldn't let him do them again this time around. However, I love them! They are different, a lovely colour and they are incredibly comfortable. I know they're not to everyone's taste, but they are mine.

Yellow bling:
I wore the vintage pin up near my collar.

  • Pin - vintage fair
  • Ear-balls - Dior
  • Ring - some junky store in the late 90s

Vizzini wanted nothing to do with me this morning.
"Just go to work, see if I care."
I like how the little mousey toys are watching over him.

  4. Wow, that jacket is a winner! Love the sleeves, yes. Don't you hate that? You get something new and then sweat on it. Fouling! - I can't stand it when I get new pieces. Ah well. Your shoes looks awesome with that jacket too.

    1. Yeah, I hate sweat through my clothes, but I never feel too bad since I don't pay much. Into the wash they go! Thanks, Mel!
