Lace Chevrons, Blue Accents, and Cat Heads

What a crazy day - I am so glad it's over. I went from a hectic regular-work 8-hour day to my after-work job (another 2 hours) and now I'm home. Let it go...
I chose this dress today because it makes me happy. And that's the best reason to wear something, isn't it?

  • Dress - Talbots, thrifted; purchased here for $24.00
  • Shoes - First; last seen here in December 2015 with more blue and purple sequins

At the last minute I belted the dress so that I wasn't so much up-and-down chevrons. I also like somewhere to clip the massive collection of keys and access cards that I carry around all day at work.

I loved this dress - I worried about snagging it, and it got caught on my keys and on the edge of my keyboard tray a couple of times, but no rips or tears, thank goodness.
The only thing that would make this dress better would be pockets.

The stuff:
I thought that maybe these wonderful blue suede shoes had been packed away with my winter stuff, but no, I just haven't worn them a lot (the February through May capsules might have had something to do with that). I do love them - must take them in to get re-heeled!

Blue bling:
I had a lot of love for the earrings today, oddly. They appreciated it.

  • Belt - Danier Leather
  • Earrings - local
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

So, yes, I did say "cat heads" in the title of this post, and cat heads you shall have!

Vizzini and I have our rituals, one of which is a little cuddle on the chair in the den. The chair is right below the bear head (picture here), and all of our cats, from Othello to Inigo to Vizzini, have always been freaked out by it. I mean, it's a bear head. I'd be freaked out too, if I were a cat.
"It's looking at me!"
Vizzini will happily cuddle, then will glance at the bear head and get all freaked out. "Don't look at the bear head," I say, and I cover his eyes and he calms right down.
"Where were we? Ah, yes, let me give you Lovey Eyes."
He purrs with a deep rumble in his body, not so much vocally, although sometimes he huffs at us. We call it "whuffling".

Then he goes and looks at the bear head again.
"Will my head be up there one day?"
Only if you keep eating holes in things, eating things, destroying things and waking me up at 4am, buddy. I'm just sayin'.

Off to enjoy my weekend! I always think of Thursday night as the start, as Friday (although busy at work) is very chill and happy. We're out for dinner tomorrow night with friends, we have Ulti on Saturday, with brunch, and I'm doing some non-Father's Day with some of my family on Sunday. I'll be back on Sunday to regale y'all with tales of our adventures!

  1. A dress to make you happy is the most perfect kind Sheila. The blue shoes look very cute too. Don't you just love how a pointy toe makes you feel so classy/elegant/sexy? They certainly add a bit of pazazz anyway! Lovin' your hair at the moment. Have a great weekend and see you next week x

  2. Beautiful dress, I don't think I had seen it before. It was a good idea to belt it. I would not have thought of that.
Oh and the blue shoes remind me of mine - they look A+

  3. Aww, kitty rituals are the best. :)

As is wearing what makes you happy. I think, sadly, far too few people genuinely do so and I always feel like they're missing out on one of life's greatest pleasures.

Have a fabulous last weekend of spring!

  4. I really like that cobalt blue with the dress. It makes the black and white more vibrant somehow.

Vizzini is so cute when he's concerned! That face reminds me of my late cat Frosting Jr.'s obsession with herself in the mirror--it lasted for about a day, where she just stared at herself in the mirror and cried. After that she refused to look in a mirror again her entire life.

  5. Gotta love a chevron dress! I love the blue accessories and I think the belt is perfect. It is a great outfit and you look lovely in it.

Vizzini has beautiful 'lovey' eyes. What he needs are special cat glasses that darken when he looks at the bear head so he can't see it. Now, where might you get one of those?

    Have a great weekend
