Casual Friday: Mom Jeans and a Very Bad Cat

Oh, gawd, this has been the longest week. L will be home soon, burgers for dinner, then an evening of wine and Arkham Horror. This will be epic.
Epic-ly high-waisted, that is! These jeans are probably the highest waisted things I own.

  • Blouse - Max C., thrifted; last seen here in March with a leather slip dress
  • Jeans - Versace, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here a few weeks ago with bad sandals
  • Sandals - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; purchased here for $32.95

This shirt is very silky - a pleasure to wear. I like that it's actually a very pale pink.
"You haven't been posting enough pictures of me."
I love how my butt looks in these jeans. I am mad at Vizzini, though.

The stuff:
Awesome shoes. I bounced around in them all day, with very little rubbing on my bare feet. I even ran for the bus in them.

Cat-bait bling:
Vizzini yanked on this with his teeth and clawed it. He's not shy. He's a monster.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - local
  • Lapis lazuli ring and Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Those of you who've seen Vizzini here on Ephemera over the past 5 years have heard the tales. He's destroyed at least 3 pairs of my shoes, a bra, several skirts, enough fringe to make a plate of spaghetti, dozens of shoelaces, a pair of glasses...the list goes on.

Well, we knew he had a hideout somewhere in the house (and we know every inch of our house from looking for him) but he'd eluded us. When we don't know where he is, he is up to no good.

On a search the other day I spotted his claws poking through the bottom of the bed - he was INSIDE THE BOXSPRING.
"Curse you, Woman, you found my secret hideout!"
We put a fitted sheet over the bed - we'll see how long that stops him. He's repaid me by waking me up at 4:20am with a paw in the mouth and meowing loudly in my face.

Don't be fooled by his extreme cuteness (although, look at that face!). He is a monster. But we love him!

  1. Sheila!!! I grew up with wicked felines, too, and assume -- I'm sure rightly -- that this quality is the real reason for their appropriate veneration from ancient times through the present. Even so, Vizzini does seem to take some extraordinary measures. I am sympathetic of you, and somewhat in awe of him!

… and entirely with you on the high waists. Why did they ever go away? Hourglass girls everywhere dread the inevitable future resurgence of the low rise, but for now, we can revel in the flattery these waist- and butt-loving cuts bestow. You're right: those pants look great (I think I especially like them cuffed as you've done here).

  2. Vizzini and Chester may be related...
our box spring has been shredded and he climbs inside the hole that he made on a regular basis...the latest fatality is my white linen scarf. Scratched and mauled after he took it off the chair that I left it on...huge holes and it is not salvageable :-(
We love our Chester too but he is the naughtier of our two cats.

  5. Vizzini is clearly an expert at the innocent face x He does look adorable, but it may just be a cover for his rebellious adolescent ways. I'm loving your high waisted jeans too, and might have to get on and showcase mine...

  6. First up, love the print on that shirt, it is a really nice piece.

Second, Vizzni is such a character, can't believe he was hiding out IN your bed, wow! He is so adorable though his cuteness makes up for his antics :)

  7. Ankle straps are a thing again...yesterday and today.
Those pants definitely suit you and your butt!
I love that necklace but would fiddle with it all day.
Vizzini definitely has the right name! But that face..."what?"

  8. I am laughing out loud at your Vizzini tale. That damn cat. (Wasn't that a movie title from years ago?) I've never HAD a cat; so of COURSE I think it's funny.
I wore those mom jeans when they first came out...had multiple pairs. You're lucky you have a waist to wear them properly, as I DID in the 80's, but no longer...sigh. That's a GREAT way to accessorize them into the 20-teens.

  9. Oooh, I love high rise - wish there was more of it about! You look great in your outfit and the high rise trousers are very flattering.

    Vizzini looks very innocent.....

  10. My cats' monster-y behaviors (oh no, not the couch!) never deter me from loving them to bits. He's just too cute to stay mad at, and he knows it. An evening at home with one's sweetie is such a pleasure. xox

  11. Due to my circumstance, I haven't been a fan of pants but I adore high-waisted ones. Like these. So attractive.

  12. Oooooo, Vizzini, what a bad kitty you are (but so adorable)! My rats chewed a giant hole in one of my couch cushions and I was soooo mad (I had my couch custom made, and it had lasted for 15 years with no major wear), but you can't stay mad at them for long.

Your butt does look great in those pants. I wish I could find a pair that made mine look that good!

  13. LOLOL naughty kitty. Spike's been nearly as monstrous in only a year. He's broken glasses (cups), caused a damaged spot on the screen of my kindle, broken several keyboard mice and spilled tea all over a keyboard. He's shredded my computer bench and constantly YOWLS in the middle of the night. He's a monster, but I love him, What can ya do?

  14. I refuse to believe that Vizzini would do that ! ;)
Oh and I agree, those pants look so good!
