Cat-itude and Time Travel

I'm down to the last few items that I had picked out for my capsule, but not worn yet. This leather slip dress is one of them.
I didn't realize that today was International Women's Day - a very happy IWD to all my international women readers! Apparently there is some sort of bright colour(s) we're supposed to wear in honour of this, but damned if I'm going to wear what someone tells me to! Today felt like black and burgundy, so screw it! This is my day.

  • Cardigan - Jacob, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) with patchwork
  • T-shirt - Abercrombie & Fitch, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) on the weekend with houndstooth
  • Dress - Danier, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here back at the end of 2015 over sparkly red
  • Shoes - Hispanitas; purchased and worn here on the weekend with gauchos

Y'all will forgive me but there are a lot of cat pictures in this post.
"Is there food involved?"
I am on the fence about this leather dress - it's too big, but that's actually not a bad thing for a dress that layers over other items. It's gorgeously soft (like buttah!), so for now it's staying. I hadn't intended on wearing this white floral tee under it until I saw how boob-tastic it was. Zoiks, not work-appropriate!
"I'm comin' in for a cuddle, woman!"
We've been letting Vizzini go out on the deck in the mornings - he is Mr. Cold Feet when he comes in, so he likes to cuddle up and warm his paws on me.
"You are adequately warm."
Not my most flattering picture, but he actually looks like he cares about me. Aw...

My office building has a camera in the lobby, and I have a feed to my monitor; however, I have a crappy video card (not exactly needed at my job), so I have about a 30-second delay on the feed.
"Bwah!"
And there I am, captured in all my work glory (including my snazzy lanyard that I got at the Blogger Meet-up!). It's time travel, I tell you!

The stuff:
Oh my, these are quickly becoming my favourite shoes. Fabulous!

Brassy bling:
I felt positively restrained - no necklace!

  • Cuff - Jezebel Charms, gift from L
  • Bangle - Trifari, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl
  • Angular ring - POLY, vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted

These pictures are for my mom. I was talking to her last night and started laughing when I noticed this lump on the scratching post.
"Zzzzz...nom nom...kitty spaghetti...shoelaces...nom...zzzz..."
Of course I woke him up! Do you know how many times this rotten cat has awakened me at 4am with a furry paw in my mouth?
"Who dares disturb my slumber??"
The look on his face! The utter outrage!

I like how he tries to be all casual.
"Yeah, I'm just chillin' here, just hanging out. Nothing to see."
So much entertainment in such a small furry package!

  1. I love your time travel capabilities. Heh. I missed the post where you said you were doing a capsule again and of course found it. My closet is becoming so overwhelming that I'm wondering if something like this wouldn't help me gain some control while at the same time force me to be more creative with the selection I have. You always come up with stellar outfits, like this one.

  2. That first picture of the kitteh is such a classic "creeper" picture. "Is he ... is he behind me?"

  3. Lovely outfit as always and those shoes are so fabulous!

Vizzini has the most expressive face on a cat I've ever seen!

  4. Great outfit, love a leather dress! And if we can't wear what we like on our SPECIFIC HOLIDAY, when can we? Oh Mr. V, a little lover with a thousand faces, that one. xo

  5. Lovely outfit. I've never worn a leather dress: wonder how that feels. Is it heavy?

  7. Oooo, that leather dress! It doesn't look too big, just sexy. And the shoes, the shoes. I'd vote them as my favourite of yours currently too. What size are you...?

  9. Vizzini is such an entertaining, handsome boy! If I had those shoes, they would definitely be my absolute favourites (they would go with ALL my outfits). So that leather dress is too big, hmmmm? Perhaps we could work out something if you decide not to keep it ;)

  10. Again, I really like this outfit. I cannot see why the blouse is not ofice appropriate and you did wear it to the office, so I guess it is not too bad. Those shoes are indeed work horses, they look so good with this outfit and I really usually prefer high heels. So you can imagine how much I like them.

  11. Greetje, it's the leather slip dress worn WITHOUT the white blouse! No blouse = NOT appropriate, as the dress is very low-cut!

  12. Shiela,

I love your style and fun posts, all of them, but I feel that I just have to tell you how much I really, really enjoy the Vizzini pics and your funny subtitles! I am a cat lover/slave to two and you capture his catness perfectly!

Thank you for the sharing all of this with us!

  13. Aha, I got it now. Now I know why you have to wear the blouse underneath the dress. Yes I admit, without the blouse it is pretty revealing. Your reception area would be very crowded haha.
See.. I have become such a fan of yours, I even go through the post I have already commented on, to see whether you have replied... Would be so nice, if you had a comment/reply system that would send an email to the commenter... just suggesting...
