Mod Bark

Knowing today would be full of running around and heavy lifting, I wore easy pieces.
I wasn't overall that happy with the outfit, but I like the individual elements.

  • Blouse - Mexx, thrifted; last seen here in June post-vacation days
  • Skirt - Gunex, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) for a Zentangle adventure in April
  • Shoes - Fugitive, thrifted; last seen here in April with cream and aqua

I should know by now that a blouse-y top needs a slim bottom, and a full bottom needs a fitted top.

Did I do this? Nope. Didn't care.
I felt very mod and swingin' like the 60s in my "bark" texture skirt.

I tried to capture it on film.
Blurry fail! But at least I got to swoosh before 8am. That's got to be a plus.

The stuff:
My feet have been bothering me lately, so I've been trying to alternate heels and flats. These are flats in my book, in case you're wondering.

Bigass bling:
Loved this giant necklace, but it did try to escape inside the neckline of the blouse about twenty bajillion times. No exaggeration.

  • Necklace - Banana Republic, consignment for $5.00!
  • Bracelet - vintage 70s, Birk's, purchased for Mom for Christmas and "reclaimed" many years later (hi, Mom!)

And now...couch time!

  1. I was following your Gunex trail back in time - that skirt should be paying you money by now! What an excellent piece. Yeah, you so need an assistant!! Love your bling.

  2. I know what you mean about balancing fit of pieces, but I don't think this outfit needed it. Your figure looks as nice as it always does. I think the shape of the blouse and the fitted waist of the skirt make it balanced. (:

  3. I know the 'rules' say you shouldn't put the two pieces together, but I really like the combination! :)

  4. Hi Sheila. I replied to your comment on my blog but I just want to repeat how grateful I am to you for explaining why my new red dress works so well. I was stunned at its effect but, because I hadn't planned to look so good, wasn't sure what magic occurred. You explain the fashion magic with accuracy and now I understand. I should hire you as my consultant. :)

  5. Pfffft! to the "rules". I like this and often wear full over full. I like to swoosh to. xox

  6. I liky. Especially the flat shoes (flat in my book too and that says a lot as I am not a lover of flat shoes). Even though you are not keen on the outfit I quite like it. Maybe not the most wow, but still nice.
