Attack of the 50 Foot...Dress Week! Condiments! And some bad news...

I am always determined to wear this dress more. I've worn it twice, here (last July) and here (for another Dress Week!). Instead of mixing it with a neutral, this time I thought I'd go crazy and mix it with...yellow!
I only realized once I got to work that I was wearing mustard, ketchup and mayo - all I needed was a bit of green and I'd be relish too!

The stuff:
Went with the not-quite-matchy dark reds to go with the tomato-red of the dress.

A close-up:
More circles and swirly patterns.

And...the bad news. We found out tonight that our beloved kitty, Othello, has cancer. We love him dearly - we got him just before we got married, so he's just over 13 years old - and this is a huge blow to us. Since we don't have kids, he and Inigo are our little buddies. We're going to try to give him as much love as we can with the time we have left with him.
Othello on top of his scratching post this morning, out on the deck, looking at the cars.

Forgive my indulgence, but I'll be including pictures of him in my posts when I can. I want to have memories of him for as long as we have left.

Dress (Vero Moda), cardigan (Future Paradise), belt (Plum), shoes (Expressions), necklace (Melanie Lynne), earrings (don't remember).

  2. I've been reading your blog for awhile, but this is the first time I've left a comment. So sorry about Othello. My mom and I had to say goodbye to our 11-year-old cat last year - sad times. You gave him a good life!

  3. Oh Sheila, I am so sorry about your kitty. It is very, very hard when they are sick or when they have to leave us. I may be a crazy cat lady, but my furry babies are a part of my family. I had my cat Jesse for 20 years, before my husband and kids, I was devastated when he passed away. Enjoy all the time you have left and know you gave him all the love you will. Blessings!

Give little Othello a hug for me. No doubt you *already* provide him with loving care. We know that. He knows that.

    Hugs, Jean

I do love that dress though - if you ever decide to get rid of it can I have first dibs ;-)

On a shallow note, I'm in love with the necklace and the print on that dress.

  7. Oooh noooo, poor Othello. He's so sweet. Indulge him all you want, and give him lots of kitty kisses from everyone on the internet!
My husband and I worry a lot about when Sophie will start to go downhill; we're like you, we've had her our whole marriage and she and George are our "kids". So indulge away, my friend!

  12. Sheila, my husband and I are so sorry about Othello. I send him pictures of your kitties all the time, and they always brighten his day. Our Tessio is 17 now, still healthy thank goodness, but we dread the day we will have to say good-bye. I'm sure you gave Othello a wonderful, happy life.

  13. I'm so sorry about your kitty -- losing an animal is so hard. But just love him as best you can, as you intend! I will be thinking of you and your family.

You look lovely in yellow, by the way. It goes beautifully with your hair.

At home we have two crazy little dogs so I know this must be tough on you both. On the positive side, at least you know.
I think this dress would be amazing with turquoise... I was gonna say green but then I heard the Christmas carols..
