Attack of the 50 Foot...Alice

Thank you, everyone, for your very kind words, good wishes and hugs for us and Othello - it's been a tough couple of days, and your words have meant so much. Our poor little guy doesn't have a lot of time left and we're just trying to make it the best for him, no matter how hard it is on us.
This picture is from last month (what can I say, we take a lot of pictures of our cats). Othello is sitting on L's lap while he paints. This shot captures Othello's general crankiness well. He's begrudgingly affectionate with us.

And on to fashion! If the world gives you lemons, suck 'em up and look fabulous!
I greatly enjoyed this outfit - I felt very Alice in Wonderland, but also Tom Waits' "Alice", which is one of my favourite albums and songs by him. The strange, melancholic tune suited my mood on Friday.

That's my old work-horse polka dot dress. I've worn it a LOT (although the only pictures I could find are here last May, and here in March 2007).
The white floofiness is this ruffly ivory skirt (worn once, here, last August), which I've been meaning to wear again. I threw caution to the wind since it was Casual Friday and did the crazy painty tights again.

And finally worked down to my flats:
I forgot my cool green and pink ring, but otherwise I really liked all the stuff.

A close-up:
Can you ever go wrong with pearls and Audrey?

Inigo was so cute today - I had to take a picture of him on L's lap:
He's sitting like that on me as I type this. *smile* We're making sure we give him a lot of love right now too.

Wish me luck! It's the big 10K race tomorrow morning!

Dress (Do & Be), skirt (no label, consignment), tights (Hue), obi (Smoking Lily, consignment), shoes (Franco Sarto, consignment), pearls (Eaton's, '90s), various charms.

  1. Joining all your other friends in sadness re Othello.

I like the polka dots & I liked the color combos (ketchup and mustard) yesterday.

What's with all the flats (shoes)???

  4. So sorry to hear about Othello. I hope that you all get through this awful time with a minimum of pain. (most likely easier for Othello than you-docs can at least treat his physical pain; your heartache, on the other hand, well-not so much...)
Many good vibes to you all- peaceful and rejoicing in the life of your furry sweetie!

  6. Poor little Othello. But he's lucky to have such sweet parents to take care of him right now.

That Audrey necklace is amazing. I'm a little obsessed with it right now.

  7. Hope the race went well! And those tights! Dear god! I need them! And....your kitty is so loved, he has had a WONDERFUL life, I can just tell. That's incredible in and of itself. Give him so much love in his remaining days. Thinking of you.

  8. So sorry to hear about Othello. I like the way you broke up the printed tights and polka dots with the lace peeking out. Very clever!

  9. Good luck on your race!
I could never do a race.
Well maybe if I raced to the refrigerator.. would that count ?
Did I say I really like the color combo here ?

  10. Im so sorry about your lil guy. I know he's had a fantastic life living with you as his owner.

Love the white poof. I want to find one of my own to incorporate into my wardrobe. You make it look so fun!

  12. Thanks, Rebecca, I appreciate that. The flats are because of the big race on Sunday.

    Thanks, Northmoon!

Thanks, Alison, I really liked that outfit. We are giving Othello tons of love and treats.

    Thanks, Megan!

Thanks, Rita, but the pain is part of the package...13 years of love certainly deserves a bit of heartache.

    Thanks so much, Lesa!

Thanks, Jenny - we're doing what we can to make him comfortable. The necklace is a Scrabble tile with a picture lacquered on it. No mystery!

Julia, aren't they fab tights? Thanks! Yes, Othello has had a good life. We are going to miss him so much. Thank you.

Thank you, Jody, on both counts.

Lorena, it's only a 10K! I do 6K each day each way to work! Thank you!

Aw, thanks, K. I looked for a long time until I found this skirt.

  13. Thanks, Jean. Well, if you can't *feel* great, at least you can try to look great, right?

I kicked butt in the race! :)
