I put this outfit together with great trepidation. I haven't been to Weight Watchers in nearly 3 weeks due to dragon boat festivals, and last time I went I had gained a couple more pounds. I am hovering around my goal weight, whereas for the last two years, I've been steady about 8 pounds below it. It's so easy to let things slide a little bit, to feel complacent, to give yourself a few little "treats" here and there. *sigh*
Yes, that's a screwdriver in my hand, a Craftsman (go Sears!) Philips head, if you must know. I was waving it at the cat.
Anyway, my fear was that these pants wouldn't fit. I don't wear pants very often, aside from my walking shorts and some baggy-ass jeans that I wear around the house, and sometimes, like here, I get a bit of a surprise when I put on a pair and oof! they're kinda tight. Not a good feeling!
But I got to work and huzzah! these fit fine and are even a bit loose. I knew I wouldn't be able to go to WW to weigh in, and I really don't want to go back to being heavy again, so I've have been trying to move more overall and eat junk less. We shall see on Saturday...
All that aside, I had fun with this look today. I felt very Audrey.
Good for seeing the cut on the leg instead of being a big black blob. I quite like this corset top - I have worn it a few times, but always with a button-down blouse underneath. Suggestions?
The stuff:
Blouse (H&M, NYC Times Square!), corset top (Le Chateau, consignment), pants (Focus 2000), shoes (Franco Sarto, consignment), belt (no brand, consignment), necklace (Jacob).
You do indeed look very Audrey! Hey, I have shoe farts too! Isn't that annoying? I haven't waved a screwdriver at the cat yet, but that may come soon.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so adorable! I love the layers and goes well together.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on the weigh-in. I have one too. Mine is just a 2 week check-in to make sure I am still on track.
Thanks for always inspiring me to stay on track!
Ha ha ha! I have shoes that do that too. So rude of them!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I hate shoes that fart! You always have to tell people it is your shoes and not you, honestly! I love the bodice, and you should wear trousers more often, they look good on you :-)
ReplyDeleteI have actually thought you looked thinner the last few weeks and figured the few poiunds yuo gained ealier this year were back off. Dragon boating has probably added some new muscles that weigh more.
ReplyDeleteShoe farts... hehehe
a fun look indeed! very playful and chic! I love it! going to "steal" this idea from you very soon!
ReplyDeleteid like to see the corset top over a dress. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun look - the corset top is a fabulous piece. You could try wearing it with a cardi thrown over it ... but I think it's fab with the button-down, too.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the corest top over a button down top! Such a super cute look!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!
ReplyDeleteThe dragon boating has probably put muscle on you. You look great, I wouldn't stress over the few pounds.
I hate shoe farts!
What's black and white and red all over? A bloody nun.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit...red and black are my favorite colors. I even decorate the house with them.
You look so slim, I can't believe you've gained any weight.
Redheads should wear red. I don't care what the "rules" are. I've never met a redhead who didn't look great in red.
I love this look!
ReplyDeleteI think it´s one of my favorites so far... plus you seem so happy :)
It´s so neat to see that you can make layering seem so easy....
Laughed so hard at your farting shoes.. I have shoes that fart too...
I love the red/white/black combo...definitely very Audrey! And good luck with WW...you seem to have the right mentality though!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I agree, very Audrey and it's a great way to utilize the corset top.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just have to tell you that you are such an inspiration to me. I've struggled with my weight since I was young and it's nice to see someone's perspective who has been through some of the same things and keeps up with their goals and plan. You're always pretty upbeat about it, whether you realize it or not, and that's incredibly inspiring.
Thanks, Lesa! Yes, I hate it when shoes fart!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hillary! Good for you - I have to keep checking in or else I know I will slide. You are very welcome - you inspire ME!
It's a cross we have to bear, eh, Wendy?
Kiltsnquilts, it is the worst! My office-mates laughed at me all day. Thanks so much - I am not really a fan of pants, though.
Alison, it's such a great feeling. Good for you for staying on track! Ooh, I like that idea - you know I love the rocker look. Thanks!
Lain - good to see you. Oh my gosh, you are so kind. I keep hoping it's muscle, but I can feel it in my clothes.
Eednic - please do! Thanks!
Evanadine, welcome! Great idea! Thanks!
Sal, thank you. I thought of a cardi, now that I have a couple of long ones. I may try that in the autumn.
FashionAddict, thank you!
Chris, thanks! I don't think it's muscle (dragon boating only works out the core and shoulders, and I didn't do it for very long). I know what it is: wine and nuts, my weaknesses. Me too - shoe farts suck!
Zazzu - Ha! I have not heard that one. Thanks - and welcome! I still feel fat sometimes, even after staying under goal for a couple of years. It's hard to stay motivated sometimes. I'm not a real readhead, by the way, and I say, "Screw them! I will wear what I want!" Red is one of my favourite colours.
watergirl, thank you! I appreciate the encouragement.
Leigh-Anna! Good to see you again! Thank you, hon! Aw...you are so sweet. I think a person really don't know what it's like to struggle with weight unless you have been there - and I do still. I try to stay positive and re-motivate myself when I gain.
Yeah, blame it on the shoes ... lol.
ReplyDeleteTotally cute outfit and you can believe me when I say if I think you are becoming a bit too bootilicious, I will tell you!
;)
