Velour Cat in the Hat

Today's post title comes from my lovely colleague Carol, who said, "I thought I saw something vaguely Cat in the Hat," as she grabbed her morning mug and glanced at my desk.
The stripes, the red...yup, I see it. (link here 'cause I love).

  • Velour top - Juicy Couture, consignment; purchased here for $34.40
  • Skirt - Tibi, consignment; last worn here in July with chartreuse and floral Kenzo
  • Boots - Prepare 2.0 Tracker, Fluevog; last seen here in February for shopping with L in a zebra dress
  • Puffer coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last worn here on Friday for a jaunt to the hairdresser

Today's outfit was built for comfort. This awesome velour (so Klassy!) top is like wearing pajamas.
A couple of my coworkers stroked the sleeves - it's incredibly soft!

I wore the waist higher during the day after seeing these pictures, more like this.
No doubt it's meant to show off my ripped abs when I wear super-low-waisted jeans, hee hee.

The skirt is a thick stretchy tube.
Black and white, can't go wrong.

Outerwear, selected so that it would not cling to the velour top.
I don't want an episode of Velour Rage (a cousin of Velvet Rage).

Incognito.
I wore my hood up for sprinkles of rain in the morning.

Accoutrements:
I've gotten my $6.95's worth out of this scarf since I bought it here in March 2018.

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Velvet gloves - Thinsulate, thrifted

The stuff:
Lovely red boots that aren't anywhere near as high as they look.

Gold snake bling:
Colleague Sofie loved my earrings - aw, thanks!

  • Snake bracelet - Whiting & Davis, vintage 70s, vintage fair
  • Gold bangle - thrifted
  • Brass ring - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Double snake ring - consignment
  • Earrings - Mystical Mind; purchased here for $32.00

I liked them too - they were so light!

  2. Cat in the Hat or Beetlejuice, either way that skirt's such fun. I got stuck inside my military jacket last week as I was wearing a velvet dress underneath it, Jon had to pull me out. I thought of you and Velvet Rage. xxx

  3. Ha! I used to love reading Cat in the Hat to our son when he was tiny. Great outfit; I can just feel the softness of that top! x

  4. Oh my, yes, Cat In the Hat! This is every bit as wonderful as yesterday’s outfit - the color, stripes, black and white, eye catching stockings and simply super boots! I concur with wearing the brilliant red top higher up on the waist, makes for nice proportions. :) Plus the whole outfit looks so comfortable, my kind of fall outfit.

    Cheers, Laurie

  6. What a fun outfit, Sheila! Black, white and a generous dollop of red: it's making my heart sing. And yes, I can definitely see the Cat in a Hat vibes. I'm a fan of Dr. Seuss, who I think is absolutely brilliant. Loving the boots, the lacy tights and your snaky bling too, and well done on avoiding an episode of velour rage! xxx
