Midweek Mullet and Casual Florals

Ah, midweek...the weekend felt so long ago, and the weekend is so far away! Just a quick post today, to show off my new hairdo (it's much more mullet-y!) and a casual outfit featuring a new-to-me item.
I'm giving this thong-style bodysuit a run, to see how it feels. Answer: it's fine! The snaps were...a snap!

  • Vest - Religion, consignment; last worn here in July, layered under my red leopard suit
  • Bodysuit - Abercrombie & Fitch, thrifted; purchased here for $7.95
  • Pants - Lady Dutch, thrifted; last worn here with neon bookends in July
  • Shoes - Summertime Moonbeams, Fluevog 2007, consignment; last seen here in August with stripes and mustard
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last worn here a week ago

Kaitlyn cut a ton of hair off my head - it has a lot less bulk in the back especially. It's rather "Mrs. Brady" and feels a little short, but my hair grows fast.
I still have some length on the back of my 'do - but it feels weird, as I've been so used to having long and thick hair. I keep touching it!

On to the outfit! I paired the dark floral bodysuit with the drawstring satin joggers - very casual for me.
I hadn't planned on wearing a vest over this, but the outfit looked too bland without something over it.

I've got pockets on the vest, and in the pants.
That's a win.

Masked up in the office.
I'll be working an extra day starting in a couple of weeks - I'll still have my Thursdays off, until my company decides to bring people back in.

  • Mask - by Mom

Incognito - it was cold in the morning, sunny and warm on my way home, and as I type this (at just before 6pm), a cold ocean breeze is coming in and causing fog to form! Fog!
My sleeveless wool coat makes another appearance.

Accoutrements:
'Tis silk scarf season - I mustn't get a chill!

  • Scarf - Zhensi, vintage, thrifted
  • Leather/wool gloves - consignment

The stuff:
I love these shoes - they are staying out for fall/winter. So comfy!

Silver bling:
I was going to do gold to match the studs on the shoes, but it didn't look right.

  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Mesh cuff - Stella & Dot, consignment
  • Silver earrings - consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Toccara, vintage fair
  • Silver/crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy

Silver it is!

  1. Wow! Love the hairdo. It looks like a bob from the front...

Lovely outfit and fab accessories, too.

I hope the fog buggers off...

    1. Aw, thank you, Vronni! I wasn't sure about it at first, but I'm getting used to the cut - it does look like a bob from the front. Thanks so much. I actually like the fog!

  2. Love the mullet! A lot of the London hipster boys were sporting them at End of the Road, you're down with the cool kids (or they're probably following you!)
I do love a bodysuit, no tucking in and annoying bulges.
Fog freaks me aout a bit, I blame wtahcing The Fog as a teenager! xxx

    1. I knew they were coming back into style - I keep an eye on trends, and having a modern haircut helps me from looking like I'm stuck in a rut.

I like them too - I hate it when blouses come untucked.

Ha, I love that movie! It reminds me of Stephen King's story, "The Mist."

  3. I love your new shorter hairstyle. It looks very fresh and cute. As you say, your hair grows quickly so you can always grow it longer if you get bored of it. The outfit is fantastic too. I love the combination of the chic vest, fab pants, floral bodysuit and pretty heels. These heels are adorable and they look comfortable too. I also like how you wore a sleeveless coat over it. It's hard dressing for changeable weather. You did a great job layering this look. Lovely accessories too. I like the earrings, the scarf and the gloves you wore.

    1. Thank you, Ivana - I never keep the same hairstyle for very long - I like to change things up frequently.

I appreciate your comment - yes, the shoes are very comfy for a heel that high. This time of year is very challenging for the temperatures, isn't it?

    2. Yes, it is. Sometimes I feel like there are few seasonal changes within the same time. At the same time, I love the transitional periods.

  4. Really nice hairstyle; it suits you. I always feel that it’s good to make changes and refresh your look.
Your pants are gorgeous, love the floral bodysuit with the overcoat.
It seems different to see you dressed in this way; you look stylish and comfortable too. x

    1. Thank you so much, Phyl! I often change my hair - I think this is a little too short for me, but I'm still getting used to it.

Aw, thanks! I know, I usually wear bright colours and more fitted clothes, but it's good to change up our styles as well as our haircuts!

  5. I think I really like the shorter hair. It kind a looks, Andy Warhol muze like! Don't know about the outfit, I mean I love it. I would love to wear it, abs that's what I mean. You and I are totally different about our style. But a bit different then usual is also very nice.

    1. Ooh, love that comparison, Nancy, thanks! Yes, I was going for that rocker mullet, like Joan Jett. Yes, you and I have a small overlap in our style, but we both love this rocker-ish look. I like to change things up often.

  6. I actually did a double take when I saw your stair picture. At first I couldn't figure out what was different, but of course it was your hair! That mullet really does suit you!
Although I'm loving the satin joggers worn with the floral blouse (err, bodysuit) I do see what you mean about it being a bit bland. It does look fabulous with the sleeveless coats and your pink hued accoutrements, though. It's been getting chillier here in the mornings, won't be long before I break out the gloves too! xxx

    1. Ha ha, yes, it's the hair! It's causing a few double-takes, Ann. :)

I think the blouse will look better with something bolder (like a burgundy bottom). I don't have a lot in my spring/summer closet that goes with it. Thanks so much!

I know, it's very chilly overnight right now, but I'm ready - bring on fall!

  7. I have no idea why I like this outfit so much, but I do. The colours? The earrings? The whole play together? Well styled Sheila.

  9. I really like the shorter hair on you. The outfit is giving me fall vibes. I haven't worn a bodysuit since high school, but you would never know your "blouse" is one if you hadn't of mentioned it.

    1. It's fun - I like changing up my hair style. :)

It's a very fall-ish outfit. My last bodysuit was in the mid-90s, when they were a thing. I like not having to deal with a blouse coming untucked.

  10. Awesome fall outfit. So many chic, elegant layers to stay warm as fall descends on our province. You're rocking your new 'do big time!
